    thanks.

I agree.. Republicans are in control. Unfortunately, Obama will continue his war on coal till end.. I don't know how much impact republicans can have, in stopping his war on coal..
Hopefully, the market sees ahead.. beyond 2016..
thats why i also believe that aci had hit the bottom at 95 cents!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

And.. I believe that the market is efficient enough that it will see beyond 1.8 years and therefore, I believe that the coal stocks will not be in free fall anymore..

oceancon - I agree with your statement.. options do deteriorate rapidly..
How ever, I am looking that the results being not too bad and that this company is not going bankrupt.
As someone else wrote, it was at $1.60 recently..
Also, I see some manipulation - this time in my favor.. Like in the past 5 or 10 mins of yesterday, there was enough buying to prop up the stock by 5 cents.. What this tells me is that institutional buyers kept it up - at least yesterday.. Now that it is evident that the expected bad news was not too bad.. i have hope that aci will go up, before march 20.. hopefully to as high as $1.60... or higher..

Coal might be out of favor right now.. but Obama will be gone in 1.8 years.. and war on coal will end... whether it is HIllary or some republican.. This is not a politically intended comment.. except that a republican controlled congress and senate might be some what favorable to coal industry.. Of course, the president sets the agenda for EPA.. Of course, the cost of natural gas (or lack thereof) is obviously another factor..

I don't know whether natural gas prices will increase or not (I would say, probably not).. but I am guessing that the war on Coal is ending or will end in 1.8 years.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

I guess I will wait a while.. Hopefully, in a month, it would be up 50 cents? Possible?

  • I am new to ACI.. decided to take a chance by buying march 2015 calls, yesterday.. Paid 15 cents for the $1 call option.

Looks like it is paying off.. based on pre market..
Since I am new to ACI, I am wondering what the thoughts are, of the people who have been following ACI for a long time.. If you follow the stock for very long, you probably have a better feel for the stock, as you read the earnings report..
I am seeing "earnings disappointment" in a few news headlines.. but I am seeing also positive stock movement.. because their EBIDA increased or what ever..
it is interesting that they have $1.2 billion in cash!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

I am curious to know.. Why would anyone be paying for AOL monthly subscription? Surely, the credit cards on file must be expiring by more than 4%? As you wrote, aol's monthly subscription had become useless, since the installation of dsl/cable etc.

I am just trying to understand.. do people actually keep renewing their subscriptions for this?

Do they get anything more from AOL

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

    thanks for info.
Core subscription revenues - mean - the aol monthly subscription, yes?
This is what I mean.. it is ridiculous.. who pays for aol monthly service? - Only those who could not figure out how to cancel it, yes?
I am surprised it declined by only 4%.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

gekko1987 - as in gordon gekko? Nice screen name! Anyway.. The bad news for us is, aol has only 1 million daily volume. and I am afraid it is being easily manipulated by the big boys..
The reason I bought Feb puts is: When I heard yahoo rumour and then verizon rumour.. and the stock went up.. I felt that they were bogus rumous.. and bought puts..

I assumed that someone was manipulating the stock, perhaps because they are worried about feb 11 results.. I would not put it past Armstrong to do this.. Since he already knows what the results are.. is it possible, he is pumping up the stock.. so that a 10% drop on Feb 12 would not hurt too much? As I wrote earlier, he is a very smart guy.. He took a useless aol from extinction to $40 range..

I didn't see recent financials but if I remember correctly, AOL was making a lot of money because a lot of (old?) people could not figure out how to cancel their aol $9/month subscription... Their credit cards have to expire.. Do you know how much aol is making now on monthly subscription? If you do, please post it.. I am curious to know, if they are still billing people..

Can someone tell me how and where AOL is making money?

Their "real time video pricing" - I have no idea what its value is.. I would be surprised if Google already does not have that technology wrapped up and probably even with patents..

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

Mayer is not stupid enough to buy AOL. What does AOL have, that is of value?
A liberal online news outlet? Is it worth $3 billion?
AOL might not fall, as it should, because there is very little retail investment.. as evidenced by lack of volume of message board posts..
Hence, it can easily be manipulated by the big boys.. as evidenced by its chart.
Notice how on certain days, when it is falling, there is a huge buy towards the last 5 min of the day?
    They rescue the stock..
Unless the news on feb 11 is bad.. AOL will continue to rise.. until someone big decides that they made enough money on AOL and decides to exit.
Notice how there were "new leaks" and then denials from Armstrong.. and Arianna's comment "anything can happen"?

Armstrong is a very smart guy.. Or the big investors are being smart.. Because.. someone is planting the news about Yahoo.. every few quarters and Armstrong is on record denying it.. A nice racket.. Clearly, a rewarding one for AOL shareholders.. unfortunately for myself.. I am short! LOL

    who on earth wants AOL?

the reason you might want to invest in it is - it is primarily owned by the big boys and not retail.. therefore.. big boys will try and minipulate it.. I am short of course..
I have no clue as to how they can justify the rise of the stock..

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

Just a couple of messages a day and some times even just one message a day, seems to tell me that there are not many retail traders in AOL. Would that assumption be accurate?

Who uses AOL anymore? There is some talk about AOL having a nice platform which gives real time pricing for ads.. I don't understand what that means but I have to assume that it probably has some value - how much value? Anyone know? Anyone? Bueller?

VZ roumer, then yahoo buy out talk by an institutional holder with small holding.. All this is telling me that AOL is being manipulated - that too quite well - by the big boys!

Tim Armstrong seems to have done a great job.. for the stock anyway..
