I am a long AMBA holder but I gotta tell I feel the same way. There are no guarantees on this earnings report and if AMBA does indeed "cut the cord" with GPRO it may come with a price. What price? Maybe a bad quarter this time and then good but not great guidance for coming quarters. In my opinion it is difficult to be overly optimistic here. I did well with the first run up but am down after averaging back in. If I had made a little I would be inclined to sell the small position I have. That is my unsolicited opinion.
Did not post the entire article, just the last paragraph.
Ambarella is once again testing the lower end of the trading channel, a level that acted as support earlier in the year, and the stock offers a good risk/reward long entry point at its current level, utilizing a percentage stop under nearby support. There is a 44% short interest in the stock, which, combined with the potential for volatility associated with the price compression, could initiate a powerful breakout rally.
GoPro feels like a one trick pony to me. I think that is their problem. AMBA on the other hand has an entire stable full of ponies.
You have an astute grasp of the obvious.
If they do not meet and completely blow away on the high side plus provide huge guidance then we will very likely see a continued drop in the share price. Just my .02.
WOW again. YOU are a real D head. Whats your problem pal? Been exposed as a phony. I will ignore your hypersensitive posts and put you on ignore. Guys like you need your mommy.
WOW! A little sensitive huh? So many people come on this board with unsubstantiated information to try and pump up the stock. (Or knock it down) Pumpers are as bad as those trying to knock it down. Was not trying to glean information as much as expose you. I think I have done that.
What "indications" are you referring to? Have seen nothing that suggests earnings will be good or bad. Please provide what you have. Thanks
You mean speak out to try and manipulate the stock price? These guys do not care about the stock price. They care about their product and growing the company. IMO speaking out is a red flag.
In my opinion the only solution is when they announce earnings in December they must demonstrate that GPRO is not their highest percentage of revenue or is at least decreasing. Must also show the other areas they are into are all growing to supplant GPRO.Because if they come out with weak earnings and even weaker guidance this baby is going down like a $2.00.....well you get my point.
Funny I have watched CNBC since it was FNN back in the late 80's. But after the debates last week I lost complete respect for them and have not listened or watched since. Don't want to make this board political but they really screwed it up.
Disney will not split in my opinion. TImes are different now and companies let their stock run up a lot more. Besides splits do not amount to a hill of beans. If I give you four quarters for a dollar are you any better off? Do you feel richer? Didn't think so.
In my opinion the guys at AMBA do not care about the stock price. They are innovators and care about the product they are putting out. If you look at the AMBA price and where they got in they are all stupid rich from this already. Why should they spend time manipulating the stock price when their time is better spent improving their products, increasing the number of products their chips are used in and by doing these two things improving earnings every quarter. The fact that AMBA went to $129 fogs every ones mind. That was an aberration and if you happened to participate in it then you did very well. But from here on out it will likely be slow and easy like the tortoise. The hare has left the building.
Sorry but you are incorrect and if you own AMBA you should know that. Have earnings dropped? Nope. What matters is perception of future growth. The market will award huge growth with serious appreciation (see AMBA) but if company projections show the slightest signs of slowing they are brutalized (see AMBA). So forget about earnings, they are secondary to projections.
Curious why you say that. I really believe AAPL will set another record for earnings. The 6 has sold very well and if they have great guidance for the next quarter it could be huge. They will also discuss how the 6S has been selling. Then a refresh on the Ipad for Christmas. Careful there.
