    Apple's new payment service may be the start of the alternative selling platform sellers have been looking for. Apple has the computing platform to provide search, now it has a payment system. All it needs is content. Sellers provide that. We will see

    This is the perfect place to post this. The stock price is very important to many people. Also, Yahoo Finance posts show up on Google much more easily than posts on a consumer affairs web site/blog. So keep it up and write as many books as you can. You really don't even need actual experiences, you can use your imagination, it will all apply to actual experiences whether someone tells you about them or not. Here's a few, 1) customer orders wrong item and admits it in an e-mail to the seller, then files buyer protection claim "not as described". 2) International customer files claim "Item not received", customer receives full refund from Ebay, item is returned three months later by customs department, for failure of recipient to pay customs fees. 3) USA Customer files claim he didn't receive item, though tracking shows it was delivered with his signature, that one usually resulted in the sellers favor, but the funds were still placed on hold while Ebay "investigates", usually two weeks. I could go on, but you get the idea, just make it's all true anyway!

    And if someone buys your duplicate items, which causes you to cancel the orders because you only have one of each item, the cancellations will be considered a "DEFECT" to your account. If the cancellations represent more than 5% of your total sales in the last three months, you will be considered 'BELOW STANDARD" and you will suffer the consequences imposed by Ebay, which include lower placement in search and holds on the funds deposited into your Paypal account including any money you might need to refund customers for future orders. Good Luck ... you are going to need it!

    We've seen the same situation. Ebay's system is programmed to maximize profit for Ebay, not us. An Ebay seller needs to think in terms of what's best for Ebay, not themselves, there in lies the problem. The whole concept of Ebay as a public company whose mission is to increase profits based on other peoples sales, is a failed concept, much in the same way Slavery is a failed concept.

    The real solution would be for Ebay to require the buyer in a foreign country to pay the import tax upfront. That measure would definitely protect sellers, but not only does Ebay NOT do that, they don't even warn the seller of the perils of shipping to these countries, and now they rub salt in the sellers wounds by assigning a "DEFECT" to the seller for this type of busted transaction. The Bottom line: Ebay has chosen to use a "DEFECT" rate for sellers which eliminates their claim of "PROTECTING" sellers. They simply CAN NOT make the claim any more. Sellers will now distrust a loathe Ebay even more.

  • Ebay encourages Sellers to ship to growing parts of the world, making the seller vulnerable to "DEFECTS". For Example: If you ship to a country such as Brazil, a huge growth area, which charges an exorbitant 60% import tax, your customer will often refuse to pay the tax and will not accept the item. Your buyer, at the insistence of Ebay, will file a claim of "ITEM NOT RECEIVED". You the seller are required, by Ebay, to REFUND the buyer their entire payment regardless of whether the item is returned, which in most cases it will not be returned by foreign customs. You, the seller, LOSE your item, LOSE your shipping cost and you will be assigned a DEFECT for the pleasure of this tiring and all too common experience. If this situation occurs more than 5% of the time, which it does, you will be BELOW STANDARD and suffer the consequences imposed by EBAY. THIS CIRCUMSTANCE IS TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS, ANTICOMPETITIVE AND MUST BE STOPPED!!!!...

  • going into effect in less than two weeks. We've been hit hard this week with nearly a drop of 80% in sales. Some other sellers are reporting the same situation, some sellers say they have seen no effect on them yet. Nobody is reporting a measurable increase though. Assigning a "Defect Rate" to Sellers is looking like the worst move Ebay management has made to date. It certainly blows away the concept that Ebay is "Protecting" sellers.

    No more than $10/share. Ebay has a net of less than $2/sh in cash after subtracting their debt. Though they are reporting $17 billion in revenue and $11 billion in gross profit, they're net cash position indicates they are spending everything they take in, and possibly more because I recall Ebay having a higher net cash position a few years ago. When a company plans to be taken over, they typically want to get leaner. They need to look good to the suitor, so they generally need to show higher profit per account. This is why Ebay is doing everything they can to "WEED OUT" some sellers.

  • According to Ebay, a Neutral Feedback is now considered a "Defect", the same as a negative.......The definition of Neutral, shown below, would indicate otherwise. When a buyer chooses to to leave a seller a neutral feedback, they are under the assumption that Neutral has the meaning shown below, not Ebay's "Let's do everything to screwwww the seller" meaning. Ebay should drop the term "Neutral" from their lexicon, This is a clear case where Ebay is deliberately attempting to damage sellers.

    The bottom line is, Ebay is letting the buyer do this to you and other sellers. The buyer is just taking advantage of Ebay's ill conceived system. I don't even blame the buyer, as far as he/she is concerned, he/she sees every Ebay seller as a scammer. This is an Ebay problem, not a buyer problem. Ebay needs to take their boot off the neck of every seller, and set up a system that is less oppressive to sellers. Assigning a Defect rate for sellers based on conditions out of the seller's control is NOT going to do that. Ebay should re-think what they are doing. It looks to me like they have finally gone too far. We'll see on the 20th of August, but I think this time they are going to make a major dent in the business. I can think of a couple of ways the Defect rate will lose busines for both Ebay and Paypal. I will decribe how in future posts.

  • The buyer did not take any action on your request."......Have you ever received one of these emails from Ebay. You thought maybe the buyer would rescind his/her scalding negative comments for the $3 item he bought from you which he claims you scammed him/her into buying and ruined his/her entire life. No, he will not accept your refund offer instead he/she will make it his/her life mission to destroy your business at all costs,. Obviously he/she is a Competitor, Vindictive person taking out his problems on you or just a complete Lunatic......But, Ebay asks that you the seller honor the buyers decision and suffer the consequences Ebay will impose on you by adding defects to your seller account. C'mon, Ebay if you don't want to give powersellers a discount, just don't give it...but please don't subject Decent Longtime Ebay sellers to this type of TOTAL NONSENSE!

    Right, it's now considered a defect and that hurts your business. Well, our item was about $50, but we just eliminated all items under $10 because we have found , buyers of products under $10 are the first to complain and leave negative feedback. I will say it again, Ebay needs to protect it's powersellers, C'MON Ebay Management!!!!

    Can any of you Ebay experts explain how a buyer who has not paid for their order, can file a claim of "Item not received" ??? and what are we supposed to do? The buyer didn't pay, we can't refund their payment. We can't ship their item. We can't provide a tracking number...Apparently EBAY has a system problem..unless this is another deliberate way to screw over sellers by creating an unresolved dispute on our account.
