im not understanding the "making a fortune" as i saw $13/sh go to $6.40/sh............
im not understanding the blind trust in raj statement either.
i do see a value bet here, getting into sppi in low six dollar area and then realizing nice gain in 2016 & beyond. that scenario looks like a good bet to me.
nobody invests based on content of anonymous yahoo mb posts. for all i know,,, you matrix, could be relentlessly bashing sppi on yahoo mb solely so u can accumulate sppi at lowest possible price points.
would be interested on your new analysis since your ceo thesis went out the window.
my thesis was that men go for the money.
1) oncologists have financial incentives to use drugs "other than zevalin......"
2) doctors have financial incentives to use fusilev instead of leucovorin.....
sppi loses with zevalin and wins with fusilev ........both based larger payouts to the doctors.
doctors want to make money if they can at the same time effectuate essentially the same quality of care (more or less ) to the patient.
3) doctors are being abused under current usa health system , imo.
4) most docs i know are overworked beyond reasonable hour per week schedule.
5 ) the inevitable calls after close of business either from patient, or hospital with your patient, or a doc of another specialty seeing your patient............ that goes unreimbursed.
6) the never ending battles with the insurers over payments are mind numbing ......
7) now all docs have to learn the electronic record keeping for all patients.........and when you first convert over to the electronic records.........you are using software from a private company that installs your electronic records system and trains the medical office staff. in most instances this is a major major headache to the doctor and his staff. throw in some glitches that originate with the software company and it serves to slow down the amount of patients the doc can see.......takes almost a year to get fluent with electronic records, imo.
8) waiting times are ever increasing for patients...........patients dont often have their co pay with them ..................... patients like to ask doc to call in scripts without an appropriate office visit which is improper medical care to that patient and which takes away the docs office visit payment.
9) its a darn shame zevalin is so underutilized. corrupt politicos take in big pharma lobbyist funds and no one is spending big lobbyist money on promoting zevalin to congress or chieftans of the federal healthcare system.
10) insurers it seems to me would be appropriate entities to lobby for more zev use.
as no one here has access to the "underlying truth"........... the scenario posed that raj was unhappy with KKeller's performance to date over the course of approx 1.5 yrs......... must be included as one of the possible scenarios. i posted over 3 months ago that i wasnt sure if keller was effectuating positive results to the company. i was advised that i should wait til keller becomes ceo so that he can truly express his top tier talent on behalf of sppi..........because as ceo he would make all policy decisions. in contrast, working under raj.......KK had to for the most part tow the company (raj) policy. its possible raj felt keller did not produce for sppi what raj expected and so raj let keller know ...............and in due course keller found himself another position. nothing implausible about that.
taylor- i am not of the corporate world. i am of the world where making money which you get to keep is more significant than any title such as ceo.
i can buy into the argument that KK left so that he could enact "his ideology" as ceo in contrast to being simply a "yes man" under RAJ. if so, then the question becomes did raj and KK have a deal to make KK sppi ceo, by a date certain ?
if so, perhaps raj breached the deal. WE DONT KNOW ?
in such hypothetical..... KK took the ceo job because of a broken promise .\
there are lots of possible scenarios. i doubt you or i know the truth.
the ensuing weeks and months will give us a better indication of how the street feels about the KK move. the ensuing year or two will give us a better indication of how the KK move affected sppi corp itself.
i feel it to be inarguable......that the KK move ......puts more pressure on raj to right the sppi ship. raj cannot keep sppi corp as a one man show imo. new hiring (s) of top tier talent is a must for raj...........in my opinion, now that KK is gone.
"skewed" is the word you are looking for.
"probably less to this than people think ? who here knows the inside factual truth ? its between raj and KK right ?
i respect the notion that KK took a ceo job. however i suggest if KK had been making raj type compensation and /or if KK had thought he/KK had prospects, relatively soon,,,,,, of coming into significant wealth......relatively soon ....... then he would have stayed on with sppi corp.
longer term.......the ceo was to be KK...........so if he was making big bucks at sppi........he could wait. but he was not pulling in the wealth and the prospects of such, look not so soon. next best thing- take the ceo job.
astro- what motivates people ?
how bout prospect of making boatloads of money.
poster gunner points out keller had boatloads of options that were not likely to be exerciseable anytime soon thanks to depressed valuation of sppi corp.
keller was thought to be the ceo in waiting after raj retired. problem there is that if you saw last quarterly revenue breakdown of the fda approved drugs - it was abysmal.
now the pipeline drugs cannot be relied upon by Keller for blockbuster revenue since fda approvals are not handed out like candy cane on xmas. in fact we we jubilant over eoquin's prospects for quite a while up until fda denial. and there was great expectation of approval at that time. turns out.........structure of clinical trials was flawed skewing the data against approval. goodness knows when eoquin will come up again for an fda vote. years.
SO.......arguably, astro apprentice........ KK left not just for that rare title of ceo. NO. YOU ASTRO ARE MISSING THE POINT. KK LEFT because he does not foresee, prospects of him making great wealth at sppi any time in near term. KK is no youngster. KK does not get the compensation that RAJ receives. ITS A MONEY THING. thats the essence of KK motivation. its the lack of money KK got from sppi to date..........and its the lack of wealth creation KK perceives he will NOT get anytime soon from sppi corp.
CONCLUDE; you got a lot of nerve with your derogatory comments .
hello gunner- happy holiday to you & ur family......
yes- i immediately considered your thought as a possibility.
you reminded me of kellers direct purchase of stock.
i am sure this mb will have a surfeit of postings theorizing why keller resigned.
the big takeaway from this , for me, is that now the wall street community spotlight will be
bigger than ever before shining directly on this one man show called RAJ.
imo, the pressure on raj has never been greater than it will become in the ensuing weeks and months.
speak to you soon.
would not keller and raj have had some sort of understanding at the time of keller's hiring ?
why would keller be impatient as his reason 4 leaving ? i cant believe this issue did not arise and conclude with" a meeting of the minds" at time raj hired keller. did raj mislead keller ? was it only an ambiguous meeting of the minds subject to broad interpretation ?
this resignation seems to me,,,,,,,,, puts an even brighter spotlight, a larger bullseye upon RAJ. this company is a ONE MAN SHOW. no one in position for replacing raj. no one has been groomed to take raj's spot. what is raj gonna do next is the million dollar question. Turgeon is not the next ceo since he rose up the ranks by default/keller resignation. that is not how to find the best next ceo.
i say raj will be under more pressure than ever before.
shocking. i just posted today that i would have loved to hear Keller give his views on where sppi corp should be going as far as its practice of acquiring drugs that others have been unable to monetize.
i am also on record as suggesting i have not seen evidence of keller's masterful strokes w/r to sppi corp since his hiring at sppi. i always felt sppi should look outside for top tier new CEO.
still, its a shock and who will be the CEO after RAJ is the question.
is raj oblivious to the reality of his company's valuation by wall street ? his recent comment that other biopharmas are highly valued based on hopes and wishes for successful potential blockbuster drug (by other biopharmas) sounded very much like sour grapes from raj as sppi corp gets no respect.
perhaps raj needs to get new non sppi person into position as new CEO..........and perhaps make some significant policy changes to the sppi mission statement and approach overall as a burgeoning biopharma.
so keller resignation coupled with topo merger that seemingly indicates sppi will not make a move to buyout topo. two significant occurrences.
i suppose the speculation will now begin as to why he left. im sure we all have ideas.
the most significant issue remaining is what is raj's mindset. is raj going to alter his behavior w/r to sppi so as to improve wall streets reception of sppi corp ? is raj mature enough to make foundational alterations to sppi corp? its been too long hovering at depressed levels. been too long with raj advocating zevalin yet no increase in zevalin usage that is notable. the prospects of eoquin getting fda approval seem more distant than ever before and raj used to tout eoquin as it was the holy grail for sppi.
too bad raj didnt resign and keller put in as ceo.............is one thought that carries some weight.
agree- its good news..........it stabilizes topo corp........sppi maintains its agreement with topo and the newly to be merged topo............ and now raj wont spend remaining cash ( plus taking on additional debt ) to buyout topo entirely. i always preferred that sppi do no more than stick to the royalties/milestones due topo from sppi as per contract - and nothing more. there is always chance sppi and new topo organization can make ptrship deals in the future.
more interesting to me is what Keller thinks sppi corp needs to do going forward in terms of altering sppi corporate model of acquiring drugs other corps are unable to monetize adequately. also what does keller feel about his understanding/appreciation of zevalin and how it might contrast with the time, energy, & efforts sppi corp/raj has put into the zevalin efforts. also did Keller stand behind the raj/sppi forecast that fusilev would not be harmed by the reintroduction //resupply fully to hospitals....of the "generic" aka leucovorin. it would be great to hear Keller speak of his thinking of the entire range of sppi issues without fear of repercussions from raj. ( unlikely). seems to me raj would benefit from a unobstructed wholly honest appraisal/ assessment of all aspects of the sppi model and sppi actions going both backwards and forwards..........from Keller. the Keller guy has a lot of experience and quality credentials worthy enough to perhaps enlighten Raj as to how to improve sppi.
