Correction 2009 to 2015. Sorry about that typo.

  • Great January bounce candidate.
Also Macy's has already started taking action to turn the company around as it always does.
Note it was down like virtually all stocks in 2008 due to the economic collapse.

When a quarter comes out with significantly greater accounts receivable than accounts payable on a quarter to quarter basis, the subsequent quarter is often a positive surprise.
    In this case:
Receivables dropped by $23 million from prior quarter.
Act payable dropped by $593 million from prior quarter.
Above is positive delta of $570 million.

I buy small eggs whenever I find them due to their superior quality.
You are right, most Americans don't buy them because they don't know.

Another tidbit just proven by research:
Egg production is increased when LED lighting is used. Important because it is also cheaper.

  • When small eggs start showing up in droves on your local grocery shelves, 6 months after the bird flu epidemic starting around mid April 2015, you can then begin to compute the time it will take to full recovery of the egg supply. The main adjustment will need to be for imports (which I've not followed). It will take another 6 to 7 months or about mid April 2016 to have full production of large and extra large sized eggs produced in USA.
We thus have a period to go during which CALM can clear its balance sheet of all debt obligations, pay hefty dividends and produce excellent earnings. When this is over, it's flu season again....

Please post when you see those small eggs showing up.
Small eggs are by far the best quality eggs because they have less water in the whites and stand up like a charm when poached or fried. They don't go all over the frying pan or water and are thus look pretty for your guests... which is why gourmet restaurants often serve them.
Small eggs are harder to peel than larger eggs when boiled because they are full of egg white and not water.

We know for a fact that people and animals will eat to survive.
We know for a fact that animals depend on plant materials to eat.
We know for a fact that plants require various amounts of nitrogen and potash to survive.
We know genetic engineering has not yet replace agronomic / horticultural methods of plant food production.

We do not know if investors are foolish enough to believe the above not to be facts.
We do not know when the feds will increase borrowing rates.
We do not know if, when rates will exceed the 6% dividend yield of POT.

We do not know what that ukulele company will do next.

I do suspect when rates do increase and those rates are less than half the dividend of POT, POT stock is likely to rise.

Yes. A stock with 0.00 debt, 7.50 cash per share and new contracts in the bank.
About to release a major new consumer product.
This is exactly the type of stock you want to own in a potentially rate rising economy.
IRBT wins whether or not rates rise or not.

    Earnings estimate?

Wow! Thanks all for the earnings estimates discussion, particularly all the factors involved.
Very educational and valuable input in the posts below.
If earnings full year attain the $11.76 now displayed, the dividend yield will exceed 6%.
Netlosstoo FY 2016 $12 estimate appears to be achievable.

    Next Earnings?

Add 3 months to their last earnings release date and you'll have the next earnings date plus or minus a few days.
Likely to be in week ending October 24th, the week after options expiration.

Why anyone would sell DUK at this extreme value price is beyond comprehension. The dividend is good and will continue to be good to go no matter what interest rates are. Clearly DUK dividend exceeds any hope for AAA rated bonds for a very long time. Clearly also is the extreme valuation of this stock based on fundamentals. No worry here!

Analysts estimates are always high on CALM by up to 11%.
On that basis, earnings should be 85% of their CY estimate of $11.01 which is $9.35.
That will result in a dividend exceeding 5% leaving cash to eliminate their small debt.
When analysts always provide ridiculously high estimates they destroy analyst reputations.
In any case, anyone made any estimates based on some fundamentals / costs / prices?
The only numbers I have a handle on is retail egg prices which are higher by 50% to 100% depending on store.
Corn prices are down but CALM may have hedged that.
Does CALM hedge egg prices or have long term contracts on eggs?
With McDonald's change to offering all day breakfast, the total demand for eggs is going to rise.

    No Quick Run UP

CALM is one of the best investments beating 95% of the rest of the stock market long term.
Expect a quick run up when investors become educated about the egg business.
I don't know about getting rich or not because that is totally subjective and personal.
Call premiums indicate a major upward movement in this stock on earnings.
Shorts are the best friends longs can possibly have on a stock of a company that provides a basic human needs food item (all essential amino acids at a reasonable price).
CALM has superior fundamentals / balance sheet and by far one of the best growth rates in the World.
The egg business is NOT complicated unless the egg producer / farmer fails to respect the need for absolute isolation of the flock from outside disease sources (feed, water, birds, humans, uniforms, cleanliness). Standard management procedures that have prevailed for decades are the recipe for success.

Who are the shorts? Who are the analysts?

There have been an extremely high short position on this stock for 10 years.
In that time, the stock has risen more than 95% of all stocks on the market.
Do your own analysis and you will do just fine.
The shorts side is "negative hope springs eternal".
It really doesn't matter what earnings are on this stock because it is a very nice long term upward trend that brings the dividend up along with it.

    Quarter to quarter delta.
Nice growth on balance sheet with stockholder equity now $463,766,000 from $426,911,000 previous quarter.
Even more interesting is accounts payable down: Now $19,195,000 down from: $28,899,000 previous quarter.
I did not compare the even more impressive year-on-year but it is in the quarterly report.
Reviewed the whole balance sheet and projections / guidance which appears to be only one upcoming expense that different and that is for improvements to LCI owned buildings for FY 2016.

FY 2016 revenue guidance and gross margins look excellent also on revenue projections.

$7.50 cash, which, in effect adjusts the stock price to $22.70 rounded.
Using the $22.50 you can then adjust its intrinsic value / true p/e ratio under 14 for next year.
This is they type of stock you want to own when:
    1. Interest rates could rise because it is cash rich.
    2. When the military is looking more and more at robotic ground activities because it is a leader and could become a takeover.
    3. It is on the verge of releasing a product that could double its revenue in the form of robotic lawnmowers. Great for an aging population.

If one were to buy CALM at $50.25 and sell the February 2016 $55 strike price calls, when called /assigned (likely it would happen based on historical appreciation of CALM).... the annualized return would be 23.25%.

Not bad for a boring food item that provides just about the perfect balanced diet nutrients needed for humans. It is the near perfect essential amino acid combination along with vitamins and minerals. The only missing item is vitamin C and that can be taken care of with your vegetables, fruits or supplement. I know of one person who ate eggs & bananas for 1 year and he was able to reduce his weight from 245 down to 155. Lowest cost source of protein.
