Basic rule: Give a company an out from regulation and if it increases profits they will take it, guaranteed. I hope companies tell the truth why they laid off FT workers. Hint: don't say Obamacare. Just say we hired more contractors, temp, and PT workers to replace our FT workers because we found an easy way to get out of paying for benefits, and eliminating all training expenses, and liabililities.
Generally when a stock goes for years without doing anything, people sell at the slightest sign of profit. But then you have new buyers looking for sustained profits. This seems to be holding up pretty good.
Of course everything is down when the DOW drops 326. CVX is at the low for a year so what is johnboy going to do.
I dont care what he thinks people should do. What does HE do. How many shares of Suncor is he buying? If not why not if he is so sure it will reach $46 in an indefinite period of time.
I don't believe we are in deflation. How can the Fed spend $85B/month, some few trillion dollars, and not see inflation. What? Where did it go. I think that money is being held back by banks(probably tied up in foreclosured homes that are off the books) until they decide to turn the "fan" on. Does anyone even understand QE. Why would anyone issue a bond and buy it back. Just lend $$$ to yourself if you are the Fed and can print more.
I don't like the volatility, but its at a one year low, the dividend keep increasing, the P/E is in the single digits, so go ahead and sell.
They shouldn't just ask the analysts if they own the stock they recommend, they should ask if they have been compensated in some way for recommending a stock. Of course, they can say anything. And many people will follow their every word like its the bible.
People said the same thing a year ago when BIDU was at 85. Then it turned out they really had growth. Its probably just a decrease in the rate of increase.
I don't understand this. They had good 3rd quarter results and was barely a blip on the stock price. Seems the big funds sell at every chance they get. Who ever said buy and hold was an investing strategy?
My guess is the big money funds just got out in their attempts to make a quick buck. Looks like it has support at $18 going into the dividend. Many will even welcome a drop to buy more shares.
