JNPR is the reason why the entire sector is down. 2nd 1/4 numbers weren't too bad but mngt down guided their 3rd 1/4 forecasts due to a slow down in infrastructure upgrade spending by large telcomms . Should not have a material impact INFN and even CIEN to a certain extent as a signifcant portion of their customer base is outside of the large telecomm arena.

LOL was that really for me or was it really for you ? ...... I am with you on the market conditions being perfect for a company that can can help other companies with bandwidth demand / management, what you are forgetting is that CIENA is far from alone in this ballgame. In fact there is another company out there with superior technology that is eating away at CIENA's share of the pie. CIENA's management did not take that into account when leveraging their balance sheet to the hilt getting to where they are today. So can you share why CIENA's operating margins have been so extremely inconsistent? ..................

Wow that is a risky proposition for a money manager. Volume is pretty damn high considering earnings release this evening. If they can break $170mm and if Fallon can stay optomistic about the momentum ( dont over conservatively down play the growth ) INFN will be looking at a blast off the low 9.00 range tomorrow morning. Keep it strong TF keep it strong.

Reliance Jio Infocomm: Set to change the Indian broadband landscape

Infinera is the Long Haul tech provider.

    May 31, 2013
Reliance Jio has also formed a consortium with global operators like the Vodafone Group, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Omantel, Etisalat and Dialog Axiata to lay a 100 Gbps OFC cable between the UAE and Singapore. The 8,000 km Bay of Bengal Gateway cable will link Malaysia and Singapore to the Middle East with connections to India and Sri Lanka. The cable system is likely to carry commercial traffic by end-2014.

Reliance Jio is partnering with several global vendors for the development of various network components – Samsung for radio access and packet core networks, Alcatel-Lucent for the metro and access segments and OFC technology, Infinera for long haul, Cisco for IP routers, IBM for billing and system integration, HP for data centre integration, and Ericsson for Wi-Fi. Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL) will roll out the towers and OFC network ( no mention of CIENA here ! ).

Reliance Jio has also tied up with Samsung to retail 4G-enabled smartphones for $100, along with data plans starting at Rs 100 per month.
The company, which wants to establish its own platform for content and applications, has also been exploring the TV and cable space, where it has the opportunity to tap another 100 million screens. Its alliances – for applications with Extramarks Education and for content with Network18 – are steps in this direction.

LOOKS LIKE OX COMM IS DUMPING CIENA for Infinera !!!!!!!!!!!!
SUNNYVALE, CA and HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - July 22, 2014) - Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN), provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, and XO Communications (XO) announced the deployment of the Infinera DTN-X packet optical transport networking platform capable of delivering high bandwidth network services up to 100G across the XO nationwide network. The multi-terabit Infinera DTN-X platform also enables XO to support high-performance cloud, data and video applications nationally. With the Infinera DTN-X platform, XO benefits from the industry's only commercially available single-card 500 gigabit per second (Gb/s) FlexCoherent super-channel solution. These 500 Gb/s super-channels enable XO to rapidly deliver more than nine terabits per second (Tb/s) of transmission capacity on a single fiber. To put that in perspective, nine Tb/s is more capacity than the entire Internet in 2005, and is enough bandwidth to simultaneously stream over one million high definition videos bi-directionally.The high capacity super-channels are enabled by 500 Gb/s photonic integrated circuits (PICs) developed and fabricated by Infinera -- the only supplier delivering 500 Gb/s of transmission capacity from a single line card today. PICs enable the DTN-X platform to integrate wavelength division multiplexing super-channel transmission with up to 12 Tb/s of non-blocking optical transport network switching, providing seamless scaling as traffic requirements grow in the future. The DTN-X also features an SDN-ready application programming interface that enables the automation of network operations to reduce both operational cost and service delivery times.

    Forward Guidance (INFN vs. CIEN)

Upgrading its network to meet 100G capabilities has been an ongoing priority for XO's ambitious network plans.

The deployment of Ciena's 6500 platform, which follows its previous agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks for its intercity and long haul networks, is set on its metro and regional networks. Interestingly, its other main optical supplier was not included in either deployment, but that does not mean it's out of the running for future 100G deployments.

XO incorporates Ciena into its 100G metro, regional network plans
September 5, 2012 | By Sean Buckley. XO Communications on Wednesday fit another piece into its 100G network puzzle in place by naming Ciena (Nasdaq: CIEN) as another of its optical suppliers.

Having already deployed Ciena's 4200 platform throughout this network, the new platform will accommodate a number of legacy SONET and next-gen protocols such as Ethernet and Fibre Channel in addition to delivering managed wavelength services in 1G to 10G, 40G and 100G increments.

"What we're using Ciena initially for is 100G for metro DWDM systems," said Randy Nicklas, CTO of XO Communications. "We're a long time user of Ciena in this context building metro and regional networks in order to get greater capillarity off of our intercity network when we get to carrier hotels." Although it plans to extend these new capabilities throughout its nationwide network over the next year, the service provider initially has begun offering services on this enhanced network in New York City to wholesale carrier customers, connecting key carrier hotels like 111 Eighth Avenue. The first ring in New York City will include three nodes, including 60 Hudson Street, an important meet place for service providers in Manhattan. Nicklas said XO "anticipates further construction with 6500 systems in the New York metropolitan areas, including some New Jersey sites as well."Although XO already has a number of Ciena's 4200 platforms already deployed throughout its network, Nicklas said that all new network builds will use the 6500 platform.

"Ciena is our lead metro DWDM vendor and has been for some time," he said. "We'll continue to operate the 4200 systems, but when it comes to new construction we're going with the 6500 platform, and in large part that's somewhat driven by its 100G capabilities." As part of its drive to deliver services to enterprise customers, XO will also introduce the 6500 into its carrier managed service offering.

INFN moves on big from here………………and i am so glad the YOU deck face traceygirl has sold most - all of your shares. DTN-X rules ……………… :-)

"When your financial condition improves significantly" well this certainly isn't the situation here !!!!!!!! what you have is a lender that has lost control of his lendee and knows that if they turn the screws on a already ugly situation it will just get uglier. They are crossing their fingers hoping that if they reduce the pressure CIEN might be able to right the ship. CIEN is teetering on imploding.
