It WILL be Dr Gilbert. I meant to mention that & didn't. As far as I know it will be physically at Keck. My appointment was over 10 days ago @ Keck & the Surgical Coordinator was out of the office when I left there. Dr Gilbert said she'd be in touch soon. It's been 10 days & 2 left messages on my part & I've never gotten a call back. I was beginning to be a little leery of the Keck's way of how they do business. Let's hope that Dr Gilbert is better than the behind-the-scenes people. I liked the way HE communicated with me & I'm excited about the procedure. I just watched an 1hr 23 min video of the operation online & .....well.....what? Um, No one likes an operation but I'm sure I will be happy with the results. thanks for the responses gang. PS I still say MAKO is a Strong Buy

  • I'll be having a MAKO in January @ KECK (part of USC) He's done "thousands" with this procedure neverless I'm still a doubting Debbie! I'd love to see some more input here.
Bought the stock on "spec" @ 10.72...so far so good.

    Sentiment: Buy

masson: You have been most helpful. I will do way more DD.
    Guess I didn't put enough D in my D!

I looked up articles on PAYOUT RATIOS & how to figure them & how they are important...that if it's over, say 80%, the "company" may not be able to continue the same %.

I just didn't know where to actually begin nor WHAT is most important & how adjustments are made do to "happenings".

I had totally forgotten about the T Mobile penalty.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful answer to me.It IS a learning process...&, to me, not an easy one.

Maybe you are a teacher...and a good one if u are.

  • tdyaa tdyaa Apr 12, 2012 3:58 PM Flag

Well, in doing further DD today I think you MIGHT be missing something.
I believe you used .44/.61 & you got 72%...THAT IS correct BUT I think you should have used the ANNUAL TOTAL DIV of 1.76 instead of .44.
Using 1.76/.66 (not .61) the payout ratio should then be 266!!!
I'm glad your previous post prompted me to try to figure things out & the above is what I found.
Total Paid annual Div / EPS = DPR.

If the 266 payout ratio is correct THEN I still worry about T being able to continue their high dividend...could be cut...no?

Let me know what you think...this is new stuff for me & I don't mean to be contrary....just trying to learn.

  • tdyaa tdyaa Apr 12, 2012 2:35 PM Flag

WOW! I hope you are correct. I'm sorry that I don't have enough knowledge on how to figure it myself...I'll work on that.
I got the 261% payout ratio figure @ yahoo finance using "Key Statistics" link.

I'm still trying to learn all this DD stuff...LOTS to learn. I spend HOURS & HOURS @ it.
I thank you so much for what YOU posted.
I wonder what happened on Yahoo finance if they did not calculate it properly.

  • tdyaa tdyaa Apr 12, 2012 1:35 PM Flag

I'm wondering if T's Payout Ratio of 261% could mean a possible lowering of Dividend?

"The dividend payout ratio is the percentage of a company's profits that gets sent to shareholders in the form of cash dividends. Typically, investors don't want to see more than 60% of profits returned because there may not be enough left over for growth."

AND a P/E of 46...I was almost ready to average down (own some @$40) but after reading during my DD...I'm thinking uh oh! I'd like some of your thoughts re PE and PAYOUT RATIO's importance.

  • ...no mention of deal/venture with PSUD.
That leads me to believe it's not for real.
PSUD is the only one that mentions this SAI deal.
If I've missed one could someone please provide a link to it?

  • ...I don't see the PetroSun joint venture mentioned anywhere on SAIC's website.
Does anyone know it the BioFuel joint venture is for real as claimed by PetroSun?

    Blum buying 400k shares

I DID notice the even-more-buying & in doing more research I find relatlionships among these following companies :
with BLUM //Strategic Partners // Saddlepoint Partners //RCBA Inc //Dominion Connecticut // Virginia Electric and Power Company / BK Capital Partners // stinson capital partners.

They do a lot of investing together & for me it's a bit of a puzzle to follow what they're doing. Boards of Directors sharing many boards.
Any insite you could give me would be interesting to me as I continue. I wish I had a "flowchart" software program. The connections could be seen more easily.

    I'm just now reading their 10Q 1st Q posted May 09,2008.
    Just some points:
During the first quarter of 2008, we used $93.2 million in cash to repurchase 4,254,397 shares of our common stock under a $100 million share repurchase program approved by our board of directors in April 2007 and increased by an additional $100 million in February 2008. In the first quarter of 2008, our operating activities provided cash flows totaling $20.9 million.

KCI is another one of "his" that I've done well in but this one, AVID, is scary because the difference between "averaging down" & "catching a falling knife' comes into play here fore me. I own a few shares of AVID near it's 52wk high....ugh!

Re number of Blum share purchase...you're probably correct...I was in a hurry & don't usually takee time to post...so I just took a look & a guess.

  • I wonder what the heck is prompting this buying this 1st week in May....Any thoughts??

Taiwan think-tank raises 2004 growth forecast to 5.67 percent from 5.08
A leading private economic think-tank has raised its forecast for Taiwan's 2004 gross domestic product (GDP) to 5.67 percent from its April estimate of 5.08 percent, aided by the global economic recovery and rising public sector investment.

A continued rebound in the world economy and rising domestic demand driven by public sector investment will more than offset higher oil prices, China's macro-economic controls and an uptick in US interest rates, the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER) said in a statement.

  • Dear Mr. Senegal:
Congratulations on your multi-million dollar windfall in regards to the Workman's Compensation reformat.

I'm sure youre going to do the right thing by distributing some of the extra millions of dollars that you now have as a result of your loyal employees efforts.

You might consider rolling back the increase in healthcare cuts for a few years so that your most valuable employees could share in your good fortune!

  • Even in the northern CA COST stores where Arnold isn't personally appearing at the moment, the Workers Comp Overhaul petition tables have a big color photo of the Governator propped up to greet customers as they come in the store. Supposedly the legislature is making progress on this & will cut about 1/3 of the cost outa CA WC, but the signature gathering continues. Maybe the legislature will carve out the first 1/3 and the voters the second? (Too much to hope for)

Taz- I'd agree the guy's post was recondite on its face, but at heart its more genuinely humbug.
    Davis
