  • What is Elon Musk's track record with earnings? After all, the ability to generate earnings is ultimately what real value is all about -- not hype!!

Tesla has produced a very nice luxury car for a very limited market. Yes, it may be faster than Corvette, but Corvette pricing starts $18,000 below where Tesla pricing starts by the way!! Tesla will not be able to translate their concept into a $30,000 vehicle with the same range and features regardless of how many battery plants they open.

Frankly, EV's cost more than ICE's and the premium is not recovered before it becomes time (7 years) to spend another $15,000 to replace the battery pack. See how that does with resale on a $30,000 vehicle. After 7 years it will be junk!! At least an ICE can continue to be driven well beyond that!!

EV's do not have a sustainable business model without government subsidies. The US car industry gets mileage credits that apply to their CAFE targets. All they have to do is build vehicles to get those credits. All other OEM's can break even on EV sales and still benefit from the credits. Tesla cannot! Tough competition for Tesla in the mainstream market for lower cost EV's!

Tesla is flying high on hype -- period!!! Less

The US and the UK signed a treaty back in the '90's guaranteeing our support for Ukraine in exchange for the removal of nuclear weapons from Ukraine! We are legally and morally obligated to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression!

  • I'm worried we may see a great big dump in the market as the situation with Ukraine escalates!!

One option for LQMT to profit from Apple

How long did it take LQMT to learn to mold and produce parts and to line up an equipment vendor capable of supplying an off the shelf system? Apple can go do this on their own if they choose to but it could take quite a long time. I know I would go directly to Engel and have LQMT on board if I was going to be producing high volumes of parts right away.

  • The IP is bought and paid for by Apple BUT the parts don't grow on trees. For Apple to receive parts someone must buy materials, equipment, and manufacturing services. LQMT has licensees in each step: a foundry to produce metal, Engel to produce equipment, and licensees to produce parts. I seriously doubt Apple feels compelled to set up their own foundry, their own equipment production, and their own parts manufacturing when they don't do such things today!!!

LQMT will receive a royalty at each step -- not from Apple but from Apple's choice to utilize an LQMT licensee for material, equipment, and production services. Of course, Apple owns the IP so they could go elsewhere to apply the IP to the production of material, equipment, and parts or set up such capabilities on their own. But, why would they? Owning the IP DOES NOT MEAN THE SAME THING as getting the parts for free or having the infrastructure in place to produce parts.

LQMT has spent years putting the infrastructure in place to produce material, equipment, and parts via licensees. Apple does not have to use the LQMT infrastructure but Apple will have to pay for the use of it!!!!!!!!!
