(((Along with an impending Cadillac-line expansion and a stronger push into electric vehicles, GM seems primed for success in the coming years.)))

They meant 'poised'! THEY MEANT TO SAY 'POISED'!!

    /mm

PS This is hilarious. I always mock the automotive writers who say GM is "poised" to not suck. Maybe this guy read my rantings and changed his word. What do you think, jeye?

((Are you saying Toyota is building the Cart the OX pulls))

What kind of ignorant statement was that? India is a rapidly evolving country that produces lots of engineers and has a booming high-tech industry.

    Hey Jeye,

If there are going to be strong unions, I want them overseas where they eventually cost other countries their jobs.

I don't want them here, where they kill General Motors and companies like it.

((Yep, you can get 3 Impala for the price of a Model S and I don't need a 1900 mile electric cord to get to Texas in the winter.))

    What's your point, Jeyedolt?

We were talking about best car/not best car, not what is the cheapest form of transportation.

If you just want to be cheap, buy some used 10-speed bicycles at Goodwill for $30 and don't even own a car.

My wife's 2011 Hyundai Sonata, assembled in Alabama, has had two flat tires. That's the closest we've come to a problem since we took delivery 2 1/2 yrs ago.

With my one-and-only new Chevy I had problems right away and they never stopped until I unloaded that bomb to a dealership.

((((It is a major achievement for GM, one that marked the first American car to win top honors in over two decades.))))

    It DIDN'T win top honors.

Best Car ever tested is the real Top Honors, and that's Tesla's Model S. Impala's not as good as Model S. It's just that it's a new model and Tesla is not.

So it's just the newer-but-not-quite-as-good GM model that's also not as good as a BMW.

(((just like the new Malibu and man did they ever drop the ball with that dud lousy rear seat room.)))

You hit that on the head ss.

The Malibu had HORRIBLE rear leg room - if driver had long legs, the rear seat was impossibly tight
I didn't even want to test drive it after seeing that.
Cramped cockpit with no place to stow misc. items other than a flimsy console
Interior controls not lit when driver enters at night
Plain jane front & rear styling (okay from side)
Gas cap on wrong side (I want it on driver's side; I don't care what these wacko GM pumpers say)

I think you just pegged the GM Message Board Truth-O-Meter for the first time today!

    "It's those evil #$%$! It's not anything WE'RE doing.

Our careless shoddy work is not the problem.

Our repeated striking for higher benefits and wage packages that raises GM car prices has nothing to do with it either.

If only the playing field were level

If only the government didn't make us hire so many people on a quota system

If only Wall Street weren't so greedy, there would be more cheap fuel

If only the US government defended US trade more

If only those darn Southern states would stop these tax subsidies to transplants

If only the transplants had more retiree-age workers

If only those foreign plants had to pay for the same safety rules and worker protections ours do

If only those media rags like Consumer Reports weren't so biased against Detroit brands

If only Americans weren't so stupid, and realized our quality is just as good. Well, okay; 'almost as good'.

If only we could get these foreigners to cut out their currency manipulation
