It would seem to me that the Fed has now caught themselves in a Catch-22 situation.
Todays report of a 3.7 GDP number for the 2nd Quarter runs contrary to any notion that there is no urgency in raising rates by 25 basis points next month.
Furthermore, if the CBO's revised number for 2015 at 2.0 is correct, it would seem to indicate that the only way to be able to average down to that level would mean the 3rd and 4th Quarters will be dismal with many companies missing their estimates.
You can't have it both ways!

The reason you are seeing or should see a rally at open is because China cut rates over night and added liquidity
However, futures early morning was over 600 points on the DOW, but now has dropped to the 300 level.
What the day brings is any ones guess!

    Good Luck

Honeywell needs to make a statement on any revision to its 3rd and 4th quarter estimates.

Your comments have a slightly negative tone to them
The US prints $6 Trillion in new money and yet the Dollar remains the strongest boy on the block....I guess that says something about the other economies around the world.
The Feds need to raise the interest rate and get on with it.

In retrospect, probably a good thing the US was unsuccessful in making Puerto Rico the 51st state.

The current Hon stock price is were I cashed out....LAST YEAR
    Good Luck with your purchase!

    HON or UTX?

I think you have to connect the dots as to how our markets react
Greece bank failures affect EU banks and they affect US banks.
Whatever happens will have some consequence to the value of the US dollar in relationship to other currencies... if the dollar gets stronger then companies such as Hon ad GE continue to suffer.

  • the_original_artemusrex by the_original_artemusrex May 5, 2015 4:15 PM Flag

I remember Rude saying over a year ago that TYCO would be the perfect fit for HON...Hon already manufacturse the security controllers for ADT.
Interesting article today suggesting as much
Think of all the tax savings by moving headqtrs to Ireland...LOL.

on pure speculation that the FED will change its previously stated direction and extend low interest rates following tomorrows meeting....if not the market will tank, taking away all of todays gains and more

UTX CEO Quits - Stock Goes Up...Hmmm

If Hon was a target of UTX the stock would go up under normal circumstances

Hon could be back to 92 by year end with DOW in the 16K range and S&P under 2K
Only the rest of the worlds problems can continue to #$%$ our markets and growth of the US economy.

    The Dem's report on torture....
Just force them to buy Honeywell stock...that would be cruel enough...LOL Just joking!!!
Immediately following the attacks on the World Trade Center I think most people were soo concerned with another attack in the US that they would support cutting off fingers of captured terrorist in order to get things have changed....unless it happens again as many from our own Government are predicting. Attitudes can change real fast.

however appreciate you previously including me in such fine company as that of BullSlinge and Diggerode.
I must admit that I have never before been referred as ETC.

I have an agreement with Barbara to be an observer and not a participant.
I see an awful lot of bantering going on, but I am still waiting to observe something useful.

If you do not start providing useful information soon, I will consider this to be a breach of contract between myself and Barbara and therefor null and void.

REX...and keeping an eye on YOU

  • the_original_artemusrex by the_original_artemusrex Mar 13, 2001 8:21 PM Flag

ink you are connected with my industry.
Through a process of elimination I have a strong sence that you perhaps work for that european consortium Air-Bus company, or maybe even that British Rolls-Royce engine thing.

Why does your company think that a plane that holds 900 passengers can fly? If God had intended for something that big to fly it would have feathers on it.

I`ll bet when or if you ever come to the good `ol US of A, that you take AMERICAN Airlines and fly on a Boeing aircraft.
REX would never fly on that Air-Bus crap.

    >OK, back to reality.
I would love to be involved in a 8 fold ROI....but my question is, 8 fold of WHAT and how do you measure Value?

on our conversations, when the dust settles out at IAC, and if the friend is still present.....seems like YOU need to sell your thoughts and pull some things together.
You might find yourself instrumental in some of those futuristic areas we previously discussed.

    Stay close,

if it is not paid out, guess who keeps the money?
I am tired of self-established guidelines which cover each division separately. When a division is in the mode of reducing it`s sales force, changing suppliers, and already reports shotcomings because of oil prices, Euro exchange rates, business market is in a know cyclical down turn......the out come is easy to predict.
    Motivate employees you say!!!
This is not a motivation leason for success, but rather for failure.
Instead, why not compensate for all the known variables and measure the corporation as a whole and devy it out accordingly.
That way when employees fall to be recognized for the corporations results, people like Mike will be held accountable. (at least by the general population of employees)

  • the_original_artemusrex by the_original_artemusrex Feb 3, 2001 7:36 PM Flag

ke 6+%. My complaint is that no matter how much contribution an individual division makes, there are just facters which that divisions employees can not control.
I think it was year before last that Hon contributed 3% of your base pay in stock. That lasted one year and then here comes "success sharing", and have yet to see a penny.
I am happy :) for you guys though....want to share?

You can shorten "the_original_artemusrex" by just calling me "REX"

  • the_original_artemusrex by the_original_artemusrex Feb 3, 2001 3:25 PM Flag

We will give you little or nothing up front.
We will however give you a large percentage for making the criteria of meeting certain goals, ie; revenue, orders, delivery, quality, etc, etc.

The problem is that they have stripped various function like sales, and created (self-inflected) supply delivery problems by outsourcing to areas like China.

For the second year in a row, many have postponed year-end vacations so as to help push these numbers in hope of making the criteria necessary to recieve our "success sharing" dollars. All for naught.

Promises were made to notify employees by the end of January of our word yet!

REX....and still waiting with the other 1400 employees.

    It was funny stuff anyhow!!

o give it up now. In addition, the investors have spoken---it`s a done deal unless the EU squeels loud enough to throw a wrench into the works---but then again, that would not involve IC, simply aerospace related businesses.

    Thanks for your post Ikgeo1,
