Trading requires training and knowledge. I made money on the approval lost a bit then made money of the Sanofi deal and sold. Bought back in last week. The use of options and learning the very basic buy the rumor and sell the news and using options to hedge and go long to avoid the whipsaws is essential in the new world of algo trading. If you are just a stock buy and hold investor you are better off in a mega cap dividend stock. I have been warning about this to help folks here. Now 2016 options are an easy way to sleep nights and avoid the algos. The stock will move on news like today but can be easily manipulated. So by year's end when the launch is announced it will probably go up some maybe to 9 or 10. The real money comes after Q1 sales results and most likely buyout by Q3-Q4 2015. If you can't wait sell now or buy long term near the money 2016 options and stop watching the stock minute by minute..

Approval step one and step two was Sanofi in for the long haul which actually took risk off the table. The ADCOM showed competition is non existent. How many associations for diabetes and prominent Doctors does it take before you realize that? You think Sanofi wasn't sure about insurance coverage before plunking down 150 million plus staff commitments? This is exactly what I mean about the short roast party coming, ego keeps those like you in denial. Repeat after me "I was wrong and now I'm going to cover before I get wiped out".

  • There is a party brewing and it will be a whopper. Lets see, is Sanofi going out of business? No Will the rollout be sooner rather than later? yes Are patents and approvals being filed worldwide? Yes Is there sufficient money to cover costs? Yes Did the ADCOM show acceptance by prominent taste maker Doctors is in the bag? Yes Did patients in the tests like the product? Yes Will other brokers upgrade the stock? Yes So now the question is when will the shorts capitulate and face reality? Answer Too late to save themselves having made a few bucks on the recent sell off they will be late to realize its all over Finally where is the MNKD party going to be by Q3 2015? I am willing to fly in for it. Vegas? Atlantic City? Santa Monica?

  • Notice the action the Algos love traders and hate investors. They know exactly how to emotionally manipulate the retail mind and trap you in the short term bring you close to even and when you sell they release it to go higher. Today's action is typical. The way out is to buy and hold if the story is sound. MNKD has no more bad news left only upgrades and roll out of the product with a huge player Sanofi busting through with unstoppable power, money and personnel. The stock will seesaw higher with Algo moves to shake you out. Long term options are a slam dunk.

In spite of the fact that 150 million is not huge foe Sanofi its not chicken feed either plus the time commitment of their sales force of 4000 and regulatory costs around the world all show one thing. Sanofi and MNKD are dead serious of getting this out there fast and successfully worldwide. Intermune gets bought for 8.3 billion for "orphan drugs". A 3-5 times market buyout price before 2015 is over would be reasonable and likely.

New SA article where a "short writer" shows why its time to go long. Remember I'm largely in 2016 options thats how I made money and didn't lose very much in the sell off. Learn about options and control your risk and avoid whipsaws.

Lets see Sanofi one of the most powerful and experienced drug/diabetes companies in the world shells out not only huge money but agrees to the services of its 4000+ salesmen and the stock has been cut 40% off the highs. Not counting what technosphere/dreamboat will do. Gee I wonder which direction it goes from here? Somebody took over my account and bought 2016 4 strike calls and stock today. I must have done that in my sleep, No need to be awake to figure this one out.

This why I have been recommending 2016 calls. The downside is that no one buys the product which is not going to happen. The upside cap is that time value goes away from an option in case of a sale. I predict a buyout offer by Q3 2015 as then sales numbers will show the value and the stock price will still be attractive to Sanofi. They will then offer a 30% premium and try to buy out the company for 25 bucks. That is still more than a triple from here.

If you think that you are smarter than Joel Greenblatt 700,000 shares or Warren Buffett nearly 10% stake then buy something else. The best news is Warren's average price is 70+ so this price is a steal. Leeb's article is right on, thanks for posting it.

  • If Berkshire was being as strategic as I propose here, with the intention of further acquiring shares during the third quarter, the most logical course of action would be for it to acquire no greater than a ten percent stake as into the end of July, taking the stake from 9.89 percent to 9.99 percent. Then, in the first half of August and prior to the filing of 13Fs, it would more aggressively acquire shares. If this did occur, Berkshire will soon have to report the greater than 10 percent stake, at which point shares should spike higher. I expect that such accumulation did occur, or is still occurring, and for this report to be filed on or before September 10th.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Bloomberg also reported on August 21st that, according to a report to state insurance regulators, Berkshire bought those shares acquired during the second quarter "at an average price of $70.34 over a stretch that ended June 20." This appears to indicate that Berkshire acquired these new shares immediately following the initial decline that followed the Prescience Point report.
