As far as I can see in the charts, the 200 dma is higher than the current level. According to that we are already below that.
Anyway, I hope we get this gap-filling thing over with soon snd move on from there.
Is it mandatory that these gaps need to be filled? I am not really a technical guy. But I suspect it is a matter of increased likelihood. Enlighten me please.
Good luck! You have to do what you have to do. But do your own research. Don't listen to these XYZs on these boards who all have their own agenda - lots of paid hypers and bashers!
Ya ya. Great prediction Mr. Gasman. Stop posting your negative drivel. You are a confirmed short for sure.
I just don't understand this wisdom of borrowing money and paying dividend that exceeds earnings -- smack of ponzi, unless I am mistaken, in which case correct me and enlighten me and I am all ears. Thanks.
down in premarket. eps 0.61 seems blow expectation. what makes you say "good report"? I am new to the stock. please enlighten me.
Welcome to the party. You are just one year late to the party. But then it is a multi-year party. The last time J&J was in a multi year party (1995-1999) it quadrupled.
She makes some valid points. Her conclusions are music to my ears anyway -- $75 pps.
"...Transocean's stock performance has been mediocre, over the last year the stock price has increased by 23%. However since the third quarter earnings announcement on November 7th and the announced agreement with the Carl Icahn group on November 11th, the stock price is up 14%. It is obvious that investors liked the company's earnings and the changes that Mr. Icahn negotiated for.
While Transocean's stock price is currently near its 52 week high, I think that it still has room for growth for two reasons:
1.During the third quarter the company increased the efficiency of several of its key revenue drivers. Its overall revenue efficiency increased to 94% and its specialty Ultra-deepwater rigs had an efficiency rating of 92.5%. Also its fleet utilization increased to 83% up from 80% in the prior quarter. In addition the $800 million reduction in cost will increase margins and drive up profits. Looking to the future the company will not lack for business as it has $29.8 billion in backlog orders. With its increasing efficiencies and backlog of orders Transocean's earnings will continue to increase.
2.As a result of the concessions that Carl Icahn secured Transocean's stock has become more investor friendly. In six months Transocean's dividend will increase by nearly 34% which means that at the stock's current price the yield would be about 5.5%. Also the proceeds from the mid 2014 spin off the master limited partnership will be substantial and will allow Transocean to pay off debt and pay dividends.
With the prospects for higher earnings, along with the increase in the dividend, it is reasonable to believe that Transocean's stock price will reach $75 within the next 12 months."
Well, it is very difficult to be a macho and dollar-cost average when the stock has tanked to half its value and the company is getting threatened with lawsuits from all around. Sometimes simply "holding" onto what you have without capitulating along with the rest of the market may be the sanest thing one could be doing. "Dollar-cost averaging" is for blue chips and not necessarily for these volatile micro-cap companies. It is easy to criticize someone based on hindsight but really that is just gloating over one's luck. Under the circumstances I have to say that sppibagholder has been brave enough to hold on to his shares while at the same time being prudent. The jury is still out on sppi anyway. ~~ Another sppi bagholder
So what is the upshot of this earnings report? After-hours action did not offer any insight -- looks more of an indifference from market participants.
Still holding patiently on this dead-money stock..
Stock could scale 100 from year-end buying for portfolio dressing. Thing is I am not sure if I should wait till Jan for exercising emp stock options. I prefer to defer the income to next year.
Amazing momentum! should blow past 60 by end of week.
