In recent economic speeches President Obama reported that the deficit is decreasing at the fastest rate since World War II. While true, the point is misleading. First, one should not confuse the deficit with the debt; the amount owed is not decreasing but rather the rate at which the debt is growing is decreasing. Second, the deficit has risen in recent years to such an extent that decreases are relatively large when compared to the past. The decrease the President touts is akin to a driver applying the brakes before a high-speed collision. The car's speed may be decreasing rapidly yet still traveling at an elevated rate.
Going from 315 to 348 per month.
We can thank George Bush for getting Obama elected. We have gone from bad to worse. Is there any end in sight to bad governance? Obama seems to be the "Great Divider", causing resentment between those that work very hard for the things they acquire and those that are too lazy to get off the couch to look for work.
Understood. I know traders had good intentions. It may not be possible to change the way each of us think about the current Problems in American Democracy. I do not believe that the leadership(in it's entirety) in this country is really interested in solving the issues. Why if there were no problems, they could not stress the importance of their existence. It really is pretty sad, how this country has changed since I was a kid growing up. I do believe that the freedoms I enjoyed as a kid growing up have been dampened by the heavy handed role that government plays today. For example, as an under 16 kid growing up, I was not required to wear a helmet riding a bicycle. I never fell of of it and hit my head either. It seems government really has gotten their nose in more and more aspects of our daily lives. They are too busy horning in on our lives and creating more societal problems than they solve. "Unintended Consequences" rules the day, either because they do not possess the foresight or are just careless in the decisions they make.
I find it interesting in what these board people have to say about it. After all, just talking HUI, gold, nugt and Miners gets old.
it is called the "Empty Chair" trick. He reminds me of the Beatles sing "Fool On the Hill".
I appreciate your optimism, but in all fairness, I will take your estimate with a grain of salt.
BH and Trader, wait minute, live within your means? and have common sense? that is so passe or the way things used to be when people took responsibility for themselves and practiced self reliance. It seems a larger portion of society today wants to blame their predicament on someone else and believes they are owed a living for doing nothing by those of us who work so hard for theirs. Sort of like the empty chair in the White House. He is a typical Welfare case, gaming the system with his 500 person entourage and mutli-million dollar vacation packages on the working backs of the tax payers. He is not in it for the people, he is in it for all of the perks. He is probably teeing it up somewhere right now, while increasing unemployment.
The chicks were way over dressed, I did not understand it. (Must be in Canada). Has it been in Florida they would all be wearing bikini's. Now that I can understand.
Direction: Progressive Collectivism, erosion of Individual Liberties, Erosion of Due Process, Erosion of Equal Protection, Erosion of Free Speech, Attack on Second Amendment, Stretching/Breaking 10th Amendment Commerce clause with this Obamacare which was presented as no - new taxes and Roberts interjects his Judicial Acitvism by re-characterizing it as a tax, when in fact the Obamacare was never represented as a tax by one of those who said "Let's pass the Bill as see what is in it." Too drunk and lazy or illiterate.
