Step back and survey the big picture.

Broadcast TV is an obsolete technology, and as sure as the buffalo disappeared from the plains broadcast TV will disappear within a few decades.

Network affiliates are worth no more than the value of their spectrum which eventually will be sold to wireless companies. The only support is considerable political muscle.

Think about it- the American public is paying billions and billions in retransmission fees to TV stations that do not produce content save local news and community affairs shows.

In the long run content providers will bypass local affiliates by selling direct to cable and satellite companies. This will directly lower monthly bills by $10 to $20 dollars.

Polls consistently show that 'trust' in Big Bolshevik Media at all time lows- 23% or so. And those 23% are mostly from 60-90 years old.. It will interesting to track political ad spending on TV as buyers of ads consider possible negative effects of the 'traditional' political ad, as in a skeptical public thinking "i don;t believe a word of this s***.".

Note that Eric Cantor spent $5 mil on TV ads in his 11% primary loss while Dave Brat spent $170,000 during the entire campaign.

The younger generation overwhelmingly uses the web for 'real information' and as targeted web ads use searches and the website visited with increasing effectiveness, the long term prospects for network TV is less than rosy..

Drug advertising--what percentage of total ad dollars are Big Pharma. You pay for that one with Big Pharma pricing and coverage mandated in to Obama care and all insurance plans. Take the new Hep C drug Sovaldi, from Gilead Sciences. $80,000-$100,000 for 12 weeks, but they sell it to India and Egypt for 1% of the US price. Sovaldi is advertised on Network TV. That Americans get gouged in Big Pharma pricing rates as one of the most profitable rackets in world history..

Bottom line- where in network TV without Big Pharma and political ads
