I don't think I have seen the announcement yet for August, but maybe you are confusing these type of announcements made every month that the board has agreed to pay the div's. I have owned the D preferred for quite awhile. There was time when they suspended the dividend for a few months, but MHR preferred stocks have a cummumitive dividend which means they have to pay all div's even those in arrears before they can call the preferred. That's the only kind of preferreds I buy. Not a guarantee but the best protection you can get with some preferreds. GL.

Well I guess thats why they call it a market. My way of thinking is that any stock/trust in today's market with a current yield of 17.34% (as reported via TdAmeritrade), is speculative. While I would think many in Santa Barber would be supportive for oil trust, I also would think if it comes down to oil or drinking water, they might just choose water. I have no idea what the final choice will be. If the initiative gets defeated then the current pps is bargin. On the other hand if it succeeds then as the trust has stated it might have a drastic result on the PPS. Not only the pps, but the dividend will get cut also.

This is simply my reasoning. As I said previously it could be a great deal, but having one of the highest yield's out there, tells me there IS risk. I used to work hard for my money, but now I let my money work for me. GL.

Speaking only for myself, ROYT, no longer satisfies the reason I owned shares over the last few years. I sold all of mine, not out of panic, but I like the market don't like the amount of uncertainty with ROYT's future. My guess is that it will turn OK and the current is "probably" a good deal given it's yield. However for me, there are always better alternatives with less to worry about. It's probably as good a speculative play there currently is. I'm just not a speculator. Investing allows me to sleep better. Best of luck to you. I'll always keep my eye of ROYT since if all this turns out just to be noise, the PPS will surely pop.
