The price is up because of consolidation in tobacco sector.
i have this stock for many years. It is a great income stock - they pay 40c for many years and in september you get 5% more of their stock. And now is the time to decide when to sell before it starts drifting down.
and may be when it is back to 16-18 buy it back.
what is the new basis for the shares? HELP, PLEASE.
Somebody who uses turbotax. how do you enter interest income?
you are correct - 1st year i can claim both - cost & percentage depletion - thanks. Am i correct entering $970 on 1099-misc i received from scottrade and then when i enter calculated royalty income i subtract $970 from calculated $1019.26. Else, i believe, $970 entered twice.
and again - how do i enter interest income using turbotax. this time it is only 9 cents - i probably can drop it, but if you report whole year - it would be more.
if you are using turbo-tax - how do you enter interest income? i'll check the eligibility for "percentage depletion" - thanks
I WILL ENTER 1099-MISC WITH ROYALTY INCOME $970 TO MATCH WHAT IS REPORTED TO IRS.
AND THEN WHEN I'LL BE ENTERING ROYALTY INCOME - I'LL ENTER 1019.26-970=$49.26.
TURBOTAX WILL ADD IT UP.
The tax booklet will be available the second week of March.

Also scottrade sends 1099-misc equal to 2013 distributions i received.
you must enter 1099-misc to match what scottrade reports to irs.
received 1099-misc equal to the distributions I received - $970.
isn't this $970 already included in $1,019.26?
depletion was only $107.52.expenses $32.20. interest income only $.09. royalty income $1019.26.
distributions i received were $970 on 1099-misc. you enter it all through TURBOTAX. on 1040 it adds to income $1,019.26+$.09-$107.52-$32.20+$970. It seems unfair that it adds distributions to the income. but i followed instructions entering everything through RENTALS & ROYALTIES at TURBOTAX
i agree - it still not bad. i was just wondering if i did not make any errors. if somebody who uses TURBOTAX have the same result.
MLP-S are much better in this regard - you save a fortune on taxes.
AFTER ENTERING ALL THE INFO FOR MSB (TURBOTAX) MY TAXES WENT UP BY $280.
THIS IS ALMOST 29% = 280:970*100%. I THINK IT'S A LOT. PLUS TAX BASIS DECREASED BY $90.37.
NOT VERY TAX ADVANTAGED. I DON'T THINK I MADE ANY MISTAKES.
as i said, i already received 1099 from scottrade. they just report on 1099-misc the total amount of distributions - this cannot be wrong, i checked how much i received and it checks. scottrade report 1099-misc to irs. now NDRO issues it's own tax guide and i can do my taxes following the tax guide. it will not match at irs what scottrade reported to them. Are you saying that i should not report this 1099-misc and instead report whatever NDRO tax guide suggests.
