CNPC is the parent of PetroChina, the fourth largest company in the world in terms of market capitalization as of July 2014. They stated to Ivanhoe they will finish the review of operations by end of September (3rd Qtr)
The question remains now what will Ivanhoe get from any dealings with CNPC and what provisions will be in the details for the Ecuadorian Government contract on block 20 for Ivanhoe? Today's news of the appointment of a CFO is positive news but a deal has to be made to make Ivanhoe continue as a going concern. % million cash in bank is not sustainable fund for projects and they must find finance options to fund future work projects. Will CNPC be their new finance arm in a new deal? We wait, we watch, we wonder?

  • All speculation but the last news release did mention the Chinese oil company is doing an audit of their companies operations and will at end of quarter be able to sign a deal with Ivanhoe on a new contract for Ecuador and possible other spin off work from Chinese oil owned patches." The NOC recently advised Ivanhoe that some of its international projects, including the Block 20 project, are currently under review. Ivanhoe is waiting for the NOC to complete its review before moving forward to finalize the joint-venture agreement. Ivanhoe anticipates that this review will continue until the end of the third quarter of 2014."
(Third quarter: from the beginning of July to the end of September)
The Chinese would like very much to have ownership of HTL ( heavy crude to light crude technology that Ivanhoe is the leader in the oil patch. In my own opinion i think Ivanhoe is ripe for a bid to purchase from CNOC Chinese National Oil Company. Would shareholders of Ivanhoe accept an offer or reject it?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
