Separately, TheStreet Ratings team rates AMREP CORP as a Sell with a ratings score of D+.

"We rate AMREP CORP (AXR) a SELL. This is driven by some concerns, which we believe should have a greater impact than any strengths, and could make it more difficult for investors to achieve positive results compared to most of the stocks we cover. The company's weaknesses can be seen in multiple areas, such as its deteriorating net income, disappointing return on equity, poor profit margins, weak operating cash flow and feeble growth in its earnings per share.

    Sentiment: Sell

Amrep "settled" with Bauer by issuing and giving Bauer 10% share ownership in AXR. Don't the shareholders have to vote on this? How can management dilute the number of shares outstanding without a shareholder vote?

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

Deal with Exxon was a nice start in swapping potential oil yielding acreage with existing predictable cash flow from existing low declining natural gas fields. Deal easily covers cash distribution through 2016 with more to come! This is just the start with more to come!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Current Quarterly Results do not reflect future monetizing the Permian Basin acreage they purchased for $525 Million. Sooner or later this acreage will either be drilled for oil/gas production or exchanged for mature slower declining wells.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Majority shareholder Karaboots once offered to buyout Amrep. Wonder if he will step in now.
Probably doubtful since he has been selling his shares not buying. Getting way above market interest rates by lending money to company backed by land. Amrep has major liability problems that need to be resolved by either issuing more shares or debt.
