To say this is an over-reaction is not even necessary because it's just stupid at this point.

They missed because Cielo is still rolling out but PLPM hit $4.00 before even one single Cielo merchant went live (they are locked in to a 5 year contract and the roll-out is taking time because it's a TON of merchants that need training... Should Planet have seen this? Yes, they underestimated time to get all the merchant locations trained BUT Planet was mid $2's-$3's (already undervalued!) before Cielo was even a thought! - Look at ALL the business and Partners they already have!

It's time for inside buys and for Planet to start buying back those $6M worth of shares. Am I still convinced that Carl will sell Planet? Yes, But if he wants anywhere near a fair price for the company he has to get this share price up STAT. It's a no-brainer that it's a Strong Buy here at this stupid price for a company that is profitable, growing and has been in business as long as they have been but for those of us that got in higher and continued to add during the recent slide this is total BS.

I'm sorry apdamic, I don't follow that? They beat on earnings so therefore logic would say this stock should have gone up today along with the rest of the coals?

Not sure why but my posts haven't been appearing. The Ingenico press release from yesterday is great news as Ingenico owns the POS terminal market in Canada and Moneris pretty much owns Canada as a processor with Vantiv as the second in line!. Great job PLPM! Also Vantiv is selling a ton of DCC and I know this as fact- anyone who sold on Vantiv guiding down is senseless, not related to Planet AT ALL. I know as fact that Vantiv is killing it with DCC in a very positive way with another huge one on it's way.

As have many, many others lost 10 or 15% this week. Zero bearing on PLPM. The companies didn't have the proper security in place and none were PLPM customers. Since Target last year there's been one just about weekly and no one seems to blink an eye. Retailers not having necessary security are the problem not the processors and retailers are scrambling to get new security software and hardware in place for multiple reasons.

So let's turn to PLPM - Ah, they offer fraud and security solutions:

    Fraud & Security Services
Our Fraud and Security services work as a combination of automated processes and personal risk management. Compliant with all major card associations' rules and regulations, Planet Payment employs the latest in fraud detection services and secure-socket layering, offering superior account protection. This protection affords merchants the peace of mind needed to remain focused on growing their business.
Learn more about how our Fraud and Security services, including iPAY Secure Token, 3D Secure Payer Authentication and Enhanced Fraud Detection, help merchants facilitate PCI compliance and help minimize risk in a card-not-present environment

Are payments and specifically international and ecomm hot topics right now? Yes. Is PLPM an acquisition target? Most here agree that they are. Have they hired a CEO whose success has been in M&A? Yes. Does the CEO also own an M&A company? Yes. Prior experience with Planet? Yes, he brought them into Global Payments. Has there been M&A activity in the payments industry? Yes. Will it be tomorrow? Don't know. I do know its stupid cheap at this price any way you slice it and the pressure has to be on. Less

  • Planet Payment will be hosting a Roundtable Discussion at Luxury Interactive on 10/13/14 at 4:05PM: China – The secrets to unleashing your revenue and profit through increased sales

Our point-of-sale and e-commerce services help luxury multi-national merchants sell more goods and services to consumers, while offering enhanced customer service to their international shoppers. To help merchants looking to enter the Chinese market, Planet Payment also offers UnionPay Online Payments, which provides e-merchants with the ability to accept China UnionPay, one of the world’s largest card brands. Integrated within the payment card transaction flow, we enable acquiring customers, their merchants and consumers to shop, pay, transact and reconcile payment transactions in multiple currencies, geographies and channels.

Charlie, I've checked around the industry and everything I've heard is positive. These guys are selling new business like crazy ;). This doesn't make sense to us shareholders AT ALL and I would think presents a screaming buy for those that aren't in it yet or want to avg. down. Am I biased? Yes, but I am in the industry so do believe that I'm relatively well informed.

My apologies dmj, they reaffirmed guidance for 2014 on their May call which was a positive. By the way does anyone know who the 1800 location retailer is that went live? I saw that in one of the transcripts that I was reading but they didn't say who.

Small caps have been pounded, that's honestly all I can come up with and I'm shaking my head. Planet's doing everything right that I can see and unquestionably growing in a big way as demonstrated by all of their press releases, earnings beat and raised guidance not to mention hiring an acquisition master. Completely senseless. These guys do business with Visa, TSYS, VANTIV, Global Payments, Cielo the list goes on and on, the biggest banks in the WORLD, the biggest retailers in the world. Evie, you did better than me on your latest buy. Congrats.

    Apple Pay threat?

    by dmj587 Sep 10, 2014 3:49 PM
    trading4more trading4more Oct 2, 2014 1:08 PM Flag

    Charlie,
There's been consistent good news from Planet. Zero threat on any issue with the Micros deal. The Micros deal is excellent for Planet because it enables them to do business with more hotels as evidenced by their press release where Westin went live in Guam and many restaurants use Micros which opens a great new channel for them. Micros is still aggressively seeking partnerships. On ApplePay - no threat to PLPM and to your point it will take years and years for Apple Pay to make any traction in the marketplace coupled with percentage of people that don't and won't own iPhones and generational reluctance to pay via mobile as well. Credit cards are not going anywhere and either are international transactions lol. I was speaking with a friend at Chase and the number of their retailers ready for Apple Pay was so miniscule it's laughable in comparison to the overall market. Great marketing by Apple but very, very long term consumer adoption is ahead and zero threat to Planet. That said my best guess is that someone dumped this morning which falsely created panic selling and an AMAZING buying opportunity. Carl was brought in undoubtedly to get Planet acquired (that's what he does) and he has only until May to drive the share price to $6 for a consistent 30 days.
