retirees are not great employees.. they don't need the work and usually don't care.. I live an area with alot of retirees and they work everywhere, and are typically not great to customers because they don't care.
Doing low carb MCD is actually a good choice.. problem is that they don't really cater to the low carb eaters, and that is their mistake. The low-carb pricing at MCD is all over the place depending on the location. The 1/4 pounder burger is actually pretty good meat, the regular burgers are not..
I agree with the coffee.. but the problem is getting it. Both of the MCD's is my area have a grey area when it comes to coffee and who actually prepares and serves it.. If you order just coffee.. you will wait, and wait.. the average is 4 mins. it has taken as long as 10 mins ( with nobody in front of me at the counter )... funny.. if you order food with it, that does not happen.. just if you order a beverage that requires more than just handing you a cup.
The value meals are no longer a value, so why not.. They tried the 5.00 burger thing before.. Considering they are well into the 6.00 range for most "value meals", for a few bucks more you can hit any better option for food. and most casual places have online ordering and curbside pickup.. easier than mcd's drive-thru.
I think improving the order time would help the drive-thru and serve most customers better and higher profits.. There are probably a few menu items that cause issues for the order time at the drive thru, and long lines at my MCD drive thru don't make me want to stop in for food. I would agree if they did something drastic like limit it to the 24 hour overnight menu, which is like 3 items.
I get coffee twice a day from MCD which is a great deal. 1.00 any size... except if I actually get a value meal. then it is a small coffee. This morning I decided to actually eat breakfast.. 4.99 for the meal with a small coffee.. Had I done the dollar menu I could have done 3.00, actually 2.00 because I really didn't want the hash browns.. I .mentioned something to the manager,, why a small coffee when any size coffee is a 1.00..... got nonsense. they actually up charge to get a large coffee.
at least with lunch I get more fries with the up charge..
This is this case with alot of the menu. if you want a simple hamburger it is cheaper to get a dollar menu mcdouble without cheese and throw away the extra meat.
For roughly the price of one value meal I could eat 3 meals at MCD by sticking to the dollar menu. And there are people who do it.. My MCD is stupid enough to give small drink cups out to anyone who asks for water.. so people just sit and drink soft drinks all day..
It is bad enough that most casual dining places are only a few bucks more for their specials.. Applebee's ( which I hate ), you can do close to 9.00 for dinner..
