"As old Senator Everett Dirkson said back in the 1960's in discussing budget cuts: "A billion here and a billion there, pretty soon we are talking about real money". Surely the FDA would be aware of this."

Yes Im SURE the FDA is aware of this ,.....AND all their buddies in PfIZER, BIOGEN, JNJ, ROCHE, et all! You know all the big boys that NOW have Dr. Missling on their personal roladex The way I see it is that these giants are all getting "subsidies" from our tax dollars to "practice medicine" on us as patients. Drugs don't necessarily have to "cure" us because tht would be bad! Im pretty sure none of them want that free meal ticket to go away which is what lil ol' AN(NIE)AVEX is setting up to do,...on many fronts! Our CEO is silently kicking #$%$ and taking names. Multiple BILLIONS in partnership names that is.

Have you ever stopped to think that AVXL's sub contractor might have a "mole" who is sandbagging the info or maybe even disrupting the process with faulty info. I know of another company called opko that had a coincidental "delay" from a supplier mystery issue from FDA. Totally blindsided management and had nothing to do with FDA approval of their drug called Rayaldy but shorts somehow knew the stock would drop,...and it did but not for long.
Im not saying that is the case here but you can bet Dr. Missling is doing his best to keep on track with timelines and other than the 12w/26w everything else he has done has been VERY GOOD! Maybe he was forced to play another one of his hole cards because of delays. Also, everyone should remember, this little orphan Annievex is "taking" on the BIG BOYS! This is no little feat they are producing. If I had to guess I'm sure that Big Money isn't done orchestrating their tricks from behind the scenes. Way too much money involved to sit back an let profits vanish. Once BP partnership is secured %50-%70 games disappear.
Relax our company is in good hands. Much is being done behind the scenes and you never know which direction the Pr machine comes from.

LEO I'm no expert but if you:

    1) make sure you keep the gun tight against your shoulder when firing.
    2) allow a little lead time on your aim of the target.
    3) resist the offer of cocktails before getting the hang of it.

you should do fine. Good luck!

many irons in the fire! IMO at the pace he is going (with what little funds he is using) any money raised from a partnership for ONE disease will greatly help get many more trials started. Also that's if separate partnerships aren't started with different Pharmas's or other GOV. funding doesnt kick in. WE JUST HAVE TO RESIST A BUYOUT until we get to a proper price target.

"the news weve all been waiting for with a little cherry on top!" I disagree completely. IMO the good Dr. completely blindsided EVERYONE with this news. The news at least Im waiting on is 12/26 week data for ALZ. Don't get me wrong, this is awesome news and I believe the Dr. has more to come! I absolutely LOVE his professional demeanor.

  • So this was Ms KC's FIRST project! So DM knew back in Nov. that they were going to need someone with Orphan Drug and FASTRACK experience! Cant wait for A 2-73 news to be released. With its safety profile and IF 12 and 26 week results continue to show progress in multiple tests, how can FDA overlook it as a future candidate for FASTRACK status?

ooops, looks like I didn't see JB's post earlier on this board. sorry for the redundancy. Definitely refutes many of the basher claims that show up every time a MF hit piece shows up. Our CEO is working smarter not harder with less money and minimal personnel as I mentioned before.

    We shall soon see!

tauhydrae et all this is from the ihub board

"One day. This is one of the best responses I have seen from IR -

In terms of the number of participants in the Phase 2a trial, this is because of the adaptive design of the trial (versus a trial that includes patients receiving a placebo). Here is a summary of comments made by Dr. Tasos Zografidis, the Vice President Clinical Operations of Anavex, and Dr. Christopher Missling, President and CEO, in a conference call earlier this year, which provides additional insight into the reasons Anavex is using an adaptive trial design. "

    +++++

TZ: For background information, there are two approaches in a clinical trial. One is the placebo controlled study. Here you have to estimate the number of patients needed if you are testing a hypothesis since you need a certain power; you need a certain number of patients. However, the methodology that we are using is very different, we just measure whatever effect is there. If you measure the effect and are able to reproduce it mathematically (mathematical modeling), then you can calculate the number of patients needed so as to see the effect. By using the adaptive trial methodology with population PK modeling, we are implementing mathematical modeling along with probability density function statistical methodology. That means that the results are looked at in confidence intervals. In the first approach you first estimate the number of patients and then you "see" the effect. In the second approach you first measure the effect and then you calculate the patients needed so as to truly "see" the effect. So, these are two opposite approaches with same outcome.

" For the record, this is NOT an adaptive trial - it has no control arm and therefore no ability to calculate an effect size for N adjustment. It is simply a trial where some dosing may be altered."

You are obviously uninformed! Have you received your DD in a crackerjack box? Are you practicing a article structure for MF? The reason I ask is that If you have been following this company for any length of time, Dr. Missling has been communicating through Pr's what the company's GOALS are and has been doing a GREAT amount of work with VERY LITTLE overhead! With a successful safe phase 1 trial, the Alzheimers phase 2a trial is designed to do all the " heavy lifting" so phase 2/3 is successful. He is also already working WITH FDA GUIDANCE as we speak on the phase 2/3 trial WHICH will be funded by a partner as HE HAS OUTLINED and will most likely be a SUCCESS! If not a partner maybe a U.S. GOV. funded program like Australia's gov. did. The most recent promotion of Kristina M. Capiak, CCRP also speaks VOLUMNES! (caps added for emphasis)

"Ms. Capiak, the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Anavex, has more than 10 years of academic clinical research and healthcare industry experience within the biotech industry. Prior to joining Anavex, Ms. Capiak was the Global Regulatory Lead at Retrophin, Inc. WHERE SHE IMPLEMENTED U.S. AND EU STRATEGY FOR THE ONGOING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, WHICH RECEIVED ORPHAN DRUG DESIGNATION AS WELL AS FAST TRACK DESIGNATION........"

What is Dr. Missling getting ready for I wonder? Why is he promoting people with that kind of experience? Why does he CONTINUE to attrack the TOP PROFESSIONALS as advisors in each area of disease Anavex is targeting. How is it they just announced 2-3 NEW PRECLINICAL TRIALS with the SAME DRUG. What is the mystry IND they have yet to announce? IMO Dr. Missling is doing a FINE job and has done a tremendous amount of work with very limited but available resources and personnel.

"Cure" is a pretty strong word. Go to their website and listen to the presentation dated March 14 and judge for yourself.
Hopefully it wont be long now for patients and investors.

  • Is it me or is Dr. Missling teeming with confidence? The take away I took was that they really do not know what disease it WONT help through sigma1 receptor targeting. I truly do not know how the good dr. sleeps at night. So many plates twirling with A 2-73 and A3-71 its truly mind boggeling! Forget about compensation as a motivation. Greatest motivation of all is helping your own family member by bringing a drug to market that cures their disease.

    God willing

"You are possibly confused because you have multiple aliases" Is this another CNS disorder? Maybe when A2-73 is APPROVED for ALZ Anavex could start a PH 1 trial to help this "confusion" caused by "multiple aliases" or perhaps they could use it for an "off-label" use for this terrible problem plaguing a few on this board. "Compassionate use" is another avenue to take although not much compassion out there for these sharks. Always a couple of sowers of the seed of doubt out there trying to steal your shares. If the sowers could just get enough to sell out of fear to start their downward slide they might be able to cover before the next "big" news hits but like a few here have mentioned they are running out of time and shares. Not many selling and the bands are tightening up.

(caps added by me for emphasis) “In ADDITION to the measured cognitive and functional benefits witnessed so far, AN OVERALL IMPROVEMENT IN MOOD AND A DECREASE IN AGITATION has been anecdotally reported. We believe that extending the study will lead us to an increased understanding of the long-term effects of ANAVEX 2-73.”

Im no expert but where in the history of science has ALZHEIMERS patients been on DAILY dosing of a drug with the lead Scientist witnessing the reversing(?) or "unfolding" effects of the disease AND has made this comment!. MOST are done, kaput, finished after 12-20 weeks..., right? IMO they are sitting on a powder keg of information and releasing it in very small methodical steps. Missling is not trying to sell it to the investment world, yet,.....FDA comes first !

seem to be eager for the knockout punch by Missling. With the rapid price fluctuations of the past it seems to drive a sense of urgency by some to make that money back,....and then some. The science is unfolding in a monumental fashion for the whole BIO pharma and patient world to see in BABYSTEPS! This is not a race you want to over accelerate early on, kind of like the tortoise and the hare. I agree with others that the science will eventually support the price (in a major way), not the other way around. Dr. Missling is a seasoned BIO executive with EXCELLENT credentials. He has attracted the BEST AND BRIGHTEST scientists on his advisory board for the journey! He has MULTIPLE PH 1 trials in motion with ALZ being at the top in PH 2 PREPARING for PH 3! This is unprecedented territory so lets all take a deep breath, relax, and let the baby steps continue. This time next year will be a whole lot brighter with the hope it will bring to humanity GOD willing!

  • arrow across the bow of the Bio Giants. Not only do we possibly protect against the causes of MULTIPLE CNS diseases but WE DONT NEED your generics to make it work,....at least with alzheimers. Patients getting better and requesting extensions, AU gov continuing to fund......news is eventually going to be great!
