The Patriot Act defines domestic terrorism as activities intended to "intimidate or coerce a civilian population; to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion." By that definition, are not the Greenies attempting to intimidate the government of the United States with threats to destroy the coal industry of America by using the coercive power of specious climate change arguments?
I wonder, what is the cost of the negative externality of a coal alternative such as nuclear energy? I'm thinking the "externality" of Fukushima is gonna be orders of magnitude larger than the "externality" of coal. Yet Greenies will embrace nuclear energy over coal, as nukes don't throw off that demon, CO2.
But it is a damnable hope, that PAL's fortunes would hinge on South Africa's misfortunes.
Naturally, PAL is down! LOL
If the EPA could be pressured to impose restrictive bureaucratic regulations on fracking, NG would easily go above $5.
The Greenies have powerful friends who despise coal for political reasons. The climate change argument is a red herring - ANY climate conditions can be pointed to by the Greenies and argued that it is the fault of CO2 and evil coal. The underlying attack is not a scientific argument, but a political one.
Uptab, I think you may be underestimating the power of the Greenies. They have powerful (for the moment) friends in high places.
No one will be safe on this planet until every last molecule of CO2, and every last atom of Nitrogen, are removed from the atmosphere and buried deeply underground!
I need some humor today.
Extraction of natural gas results in the release of methane. Natural gas may be in the process of being setup by the Greenies for the same treatment as coal.
A year ago, when it looked like Romney might win, the price of ACI was around $8. What a difference an election makes, eh?
Ya never know - maybe it will cause the company to come up on somebody's radar as a potential takeover candidate. Someone could probably purchase the whole operation for $0.55 per share.
BAM will likely foreclose and sell the property, thereby doubling their investment. Common shareholders will be left holding the bag.
German Greenies are nuts. The German people, as a whole, are level-headed and will certainly not buy into the anti-CO2 hysteria of the Greenies. There is no historical precedent for the German people buying into irrational hysteria - ... uh... right?
