Dan & I once dirty danced the nights away in the advertising department of EVC. Best Job I ever had!
Then Dan went to the dark side and became a rogue pumper. While I do my best to remind people what EVC really does, how much debt it has, how diluted and convoluted the ownership structure is -- how many votes does the CEO have with his minor position in a special class of shares? A lot. Why does Univision have the right to block any sale with its minor EVC ownership? Look it up.
EVC's prospects are not anything like they once were just several years ago.
Apparently the only true propellant for EVC, the auto industry, may have hit its post recession peak and beginning to decline.
Supply growing, well above norm. Sales below expectations.
Auto has been EVC's only consistent strong growth category. It makes up for declines in the others.
I never said I blocked Dan! What good could I do if I blocked him while he aggressively recruited small investors to partake in this 40% decline?
Sadly not everyone could be saved from him, as your bitterness indicates...
I've seen Dan ruin people many times before. Someone has to counter his destructive instructions. I can proudly say I did and I was right.
"Poor management ”??
How can you advocate buying into the worst possible dying business which also has poor management? Even you should see there is no hope!
I agree! Some people are so stupid! Insanity! Insist they were right to be long through a $3 (40%) loss.
A more appropriate title for your post would be "I Am Ruined!"
I hope you take a long sabbatical. Its a lot of work protecting the innocent from your nonsense support of heavily indebted old world Spanish re- broadcast business model.
Dan, EVC deals with Univision and FOX not ABC.
EVC has almost no content. Their news audience has fallen significantly. And competitors are taking news share with Spanish news channels with deap pocket and much better coverage. Univision news alone makes EVC news look like a junior high project. EVC hasn't invested in News in years. Why? No Cash, debt, piddly dividend to pay...
What a joker!
So the obvious reply is that advertising is multiples of their shrinking free cash flow, not just half!!
That of course is my point.... You focus on $20 million in re-trans while ignoring $200 million in faltering advertising revenue.
EVC will do the same. Nice of you to prep us for more tired trickery. Slight of hand, as they say. Watch for it Dan, beware, it works all to well upon those weak of mind...
GTN doing well today.
Nice to see you also called the GTN floor at $10 so accurately as well...
Why don't you say anything new? Now you are pointing to re-trans? It is such a tiny portion of EVC's revenue. The better question is how is EVC going to make up for the advertising dollars as eyes continue to be drawn away? Remember the world cup failure??? It was only months ago. The market will never forget...
Univision cut them out! EVC is the runt at the food trough of ad $'s...
Your 2021 "Contract" is obviously close to worthless, as it did nothing to prevent Univision from bypassing EVC and simulcasting world cup direct to pay TV, streaming, and mobile.
EVC has no digital rights to Univision content. And no exclusivity. The right to broadcast is nearly worthless as almost nobody receives those signals any more. And finally EVC got very little re-trans revenue historically and that contract is about to expire with EVC holding even fewer cards this time around...
Yes, it is getting difficult for EVC to skirt their issues around the long-term deterioration of the core business --"broadcast" in these presentations.
No doubt they will hype political like they did world cup. Optimism running over. Just another temporary distraction. The lull of 2015 is upon us.
They probably won't say anything about their contracts except that they feel they have a good relationship with Univision (such words as Univision does not return, quite the opposite in Univision's opinion and actions).
And then there is endless digital talk. With no financials to back it up. Been years of digital with millions squandered and zero success. Its difficult to excuse. Take a look at their mess of station sites. They have been representative of the travesty of missed opportunity for 5 years. But do you really expect radio and "broadcast" executives to make profitable new world tech investments for us?
Now at least you admit there is massive new competition. That's a step in the right direction.
Now ask yourself, if one dominant channel could support 360 million in debt, how much debt can one channel of fifty new offerings support.
Fragmentation hurts. Competition hurts. Technology hurts.
Don't be ignorant!
Univision will not, and need not go cable "only" to circumvent EVC.
Just look at world cup -- Univision Desportes pay tv simulcast ruined EVC's financial results.
Its done. It is reported. We know this be true. We know this to be Univision strategy. How can EVC survive?
Who said garbage? As you well know Univision has greatly increased its direct to pay TV offerings. Plus many many other deep pocketed well known content providers launched Spanish channels to take share from Univision in US.
Really? Chart the selling in 2014 against the token buying. What do you see.
How about the number of insiders that sold vs. Bought?
Volume of shares sold vs. Bought?
Very strong indication of insider opinion in the transaction data, isn't there?
Anybody that has followed you into the EVC pit of doom ( against my better judgement) is no fan of yours.
Everyone should be aware the Univision with one single channel had a lock on US Latinos. And this king of the hill environment persisted for much longer for Spanish than English in the US. But that is no longer the case. Spanish content has blossomed in a short period. Fragmentation has come to Latino TV. Univision alone has close to a dozen offerings, most of which lure eyes away from EVC "broadcasts”, like Univision Desportes did during the world cup debacle.
So you have good Spanish content growing from one channel to twenty and soon to be fifty. And that obviously is a driver behind the continued decline in the current "king of the hill" flagship Univision channel viewers.
Taken together - the massive growth in fragmentation of Spanish Media (and EVCs lack of participation in content production) along with the obsolescence and circumvention of the old "broadcast" model by content holders and massive debt held by broadcasters like EVC and regulated assets like low value broadcast frequency rights in low population boarder towns with no demand for additional communications spectrum makes a poorly run company with lots of insider selling a very risky investment at such a high enterprise valuation as EVC has today.
What happens when Univision goes direct to pay TV with a soap channel?
We already know the answer. Univision created Univision Desportes and stole EVC's world cup audience.
Univision cut EVC out and constantly brags about the huge huge growth of its Univision Desportes audience.
Win win for Univision IPO. Lose lose for EVC.
