Merger costs in acquisitions are disregarded when looking at earnings. These are usually 1 or 2 time occurences after the merger. I would be happy if the new company made any profit after the costs are considered. Also would like to know when the store closures will begin, if not already. OMX's HQ expenses will disappear in the next few quarters. I don't have any idea how many corporate employees will be offered jobs in Boca. Or how many Boca employees will be dismissed to make place for the Illinois people. We'll see what kind of turnaround guy Roland Smith is.
I have been looking for the 2014 2.0 Ecoboost Explorer for 3 months and have yet to find one at any dealer in South Florida. What's the deal? Sales managers have "I Dunno" attitude. Sales people haven't a clue.
Staples is very tactical. They will wait for the odp/omx same store markets to pick the one store to close and the one store to keep open. Spls will fill the vacant store vacuum quickly in markets that they have not been able to get into because of the current odp/omx saturation. ie: Spls has yet to have a consistent ad campaign in So. Florida and relies on national ads. I will say the new "What The L" campaign is very catchy and much better than "That Was Easy". This merger gives Spls the opportunity to open 50-75 stores in new markets.
