Yahoo's noticeable change is its "fancy" animated logo. Other than that, everything else is still #$%$. Yahoo email is #$%$. Filtered important emails for me while keeping all the junk. Yahoo message board is #$%$. Countless bugs, bloated, and slow. Stopped using Yahoo messenger long time ago. Yahoo news is not badly built except it is filled with recycled #$%$ "news".
Yahoo has become a company where smart small companies wait to get bought out and then die.
legit review reported that the press card had a bio version difference from the retail version, which causes the retail card to throttle early in quiet mode at 33 degree Celsius ambient temperature.
How did a review site discover this information before AMD does is beyond belief. AMD's engineers in charge of the card release should be fired.
Now that Intel had opened up its fab for other chip designers to use, can AMD contract Intel fab to produce chips using the latest fab offering?
My understanding is that Intel should negotiate in good faith or may risk anti-competition lawsuit but I am not sure about this.

Thank you for your email. You are correct; our wafer purchase commitment to Global Foundries is ~$400M in Q4 2013. As we indicated on our October earnings call, we are on track to meet that commitment and indicated that our inventory levels in the 4th quarter would be flat from Q3 levels. We believe this inventory level is appropriate to support our business, as we’ve seen strength from our high-end A8/A10 APUs, our recently launched R7/R9 GPUs and the continued semi-custom production. We will also begin shipping Kaveri, our next-generation desktop APU in the 4th quarter.
Wall street at its ugliest. A few years ago, I was attempted to get a CFA certification and took/passed level II of the exams. A big topic of the exams is ethics, where it is stressed that the research arm of an investment bank should be separate from the trading department. The trading department should not front run the clients of the research report or the general public before the report is fully disseminated. I guess this is all out of the window in real life.
“This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” Sony said. The company wouldn’t give a specific number of faulty units or a total figure for how many PS4 units were shipped through the Taco Bell promotion, but said that the problem cases are “a very small number, affecting less than .04 percent of PS4 systems sent to consumers to date.”
This is short term financing for account receivables. Not technically a debt in accounting terms since it is equal to selling the receivables for a discount for immediate cash.
I would be a little concerned if AMD went for a medium term bond instead.
This revolving credit of line will add to financing cost but not too significant since receivables are considered low risk credit.
AMD is looking at 200 million cash payment to GlobalFoundry the end of year. AMD seems to determine to pay it off instead of using promissory note again.
My bet is that AMD is expect a lot of account receivables for its GPU sales and console chip sales in the holiday season. AMD wants to cash out those sales right away to cover the 200 million due.
this is close to100million income with almost no operation expense.
just this one item equal to last quarter nvidia total income
is this bad?
you think a steam machine will anything other than customized game computer? PS4 and Xbone are based on huge investment to make them cost effective. Steam machines are not going to be in the same price range and thus not direct competition.
I think GCN and hybrid architecture enable lower cost for customized design at the end of the day. The success (expected) of this would make AMD great bragging rights for future business.
NO. He didn't cheat. Instead, compared the performance of R9 290X on quiet mode (fan speed top at 40%) with 780ti.
When you run it on uber mode, clearly, 290X wins out. Those "review" sites got more ad income from Nvidia and you can tell the bias clearly.
if you have a customized 280, you can replace the stock 290 with your previous cooler. Very easy to do.

Not all developers will use Mantle but if your game can run faster with less hardware investment for consumers, would you not invest in it? A game that runs smoother is definitely a game that will sell more.
As to the cost of development, it really depends on how similar the code is between the console version and the PC version. If the developer's console version for Xbone or PS4 is similar to Mantle as many have insinuated, having a mantle version won't cost much at all. It would be just gravy. In fact, the developer may have mantle version first before directX or openGL version.
I say this from the perspective of a software engineer.
