Read it and weep. . .
In Russia, three big carriers provide service for 80% of the country’s 180 million mobile subscribers. None of those carriers support the iPhone anymore, notes Philip Elmer-DeWitt at Fortune.
Previously, two of the carriers — OAO Mobile TeleSystems and Vimplecom — sold the iPhone. They’ve decided to drop the iPhone.
Andrei Dubovskov, CEO of OAO, explained the rationale behind dropping the iPhone to Bloomberg by saying, “Apple wants operators to pay them huge money, subsidizing iPhones and their promotion in Russia … Now it’s not beneficial for us. It’s good we stopped selling the iPhone as these sales would’ve brought us a negative margin.”
He’s going to put his weight behind Windows Phone, which actually has the same amount of market share in Russia as Apple, ~8% for each.
Vimplecom will push Samsung Galaxy S4s as an alternative to the iPhone.
In Russia, the iPhone is very expensive. It sells for $918 there because carriers don’t subsidise the price, and Russia has high taxes on imports like the iPhone.
Despite losing support from the main carriers in the country, Russians will still be able to buy iPhones at electronics stores and on the grey market.
But, for Apple this is not good.
The iPhone’s growth rate is slowing considerably, which has hammered its stock price.
Being shut out of Russia isn’t going to help it get the iPhone business cranking again.
Perhaps when (if?) it releases a low-cost iPhone, Apple will have a new attack in the Russian market, and these carriers will start supporting the iPhone again.

When you're starving because you lost your lunch money shorting GMCR then dieting isn't so hard now is it?
And you tell them, "No, I just hitchhiked here" right?
When does your shift at Taco Bell start anyway?
Ignored and REPORTED. . .he won't be around for much longer. Look for him to create more alts and terrorize the board all the while not holding a single share of CLF himself. . .
Be sure and post your losses. . .
It wasn't just the guidance, it was the deal with SBUX, etc.
Why do these people keep fighting against the chart?
Long from 17.90
And the next day it goes right back up and we take the shorts money again. . .
Nice theory, but it don't reflect reality as the charts show.
That's why you trade on technical analysis (charts) and not fundamentals. Regardless of how good or bad the fundamentals are the share price and buy/sell points are all driven by software algorithms that could care less about your fundamentals.
The only thing that matters is what does the chart say?
You don't file chapter 11 for paper trades. . .
No one with any trading sense that can read a chart would be shorting GMCR right now.
Long from 17.90
Shadowealth is a paper trader. Never had any skin in the game. He obviously can't read a chart.
Pay no attention to these 13-yr olds and they'll go away.
As did I. I was long from 17.90 and sold a portion of the holdings when share price tripled and have held the rest thru earnings.
I just don't see any TA that says this should pull back. And my investing/trading philosophy doesn't say to cut my winners short.
The two-day shakeout in the a.m. of weak hands and afternoon rallies into the close are over.
GMCR opened up this morning nearly 3%, the market is clearly in the GREEN And this should be a good day.
80 today, 85 by end of week?
What else would you expect from a paper trader who has no skin in the game?
These guys show up after the fact, claim they did this and that (bought calls, made 50k, etc., rinse-repeat) and then they go and plague some other board with their nonsense.
Pay no attention to the children and they will go away. As you can tell by what he says, he doesn't know what he is talking about!
Its the same people that say you "don't catch a falling knife" but want to tie down a rocket ship. . .
Not a one of them can read a chart!
How's that analysis working out for ya?
Please post your losses. . .
