Phase 2 Studies of VB-201 in Patients with Psoriasis and Ulcerative Colitis Did Not Meet Primary Endpoints

The hunt for a solution to Ulcerative Colitis & Psoriasis continues.

Anatabine Citrate -- We believe is a solution as has been experienced with many users of Anatabloc.

FDA & medical community should wake up and get behind a "fast track" to prove Anatabine Citrate is a solution for Ulcerative Colitis & Psoriasis.

  • "She had been fighting cancer since 2008. That year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2013, after the tumor metastasized to others parts of her body, she told Mexican state news Agency Notimex that "[she] was very aware that this disease... is a chronic disease."

Scientists believe that for cancer tumors to metastasize, chronic inflammation is necessary.

Would Anatabloc (Anatabine Citrate) prevented Lorena Rojas's cancer from spreading?

I believe the answer to that question is a maybe YES, but there is no proof of that yet. If a loved one of mine is diagnosed with cancer, I will beg, borrow or steal any Anatabloc I can get my hands on for that loved one.

In due time, we should know the answer to that question. Stay tuned as the medical community wakes up to Anatabine Citrate.

  • Faced with "right-to-try" laws and diseases like Ebola with no known treatment, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced that it will make it easier for physicians to request "compassionate use" of unapproved investigational drugs and devices outside of a clinical trial.

An application form that now takes 100 hours to complete will become a 45-minute chore, according to an agency proposal released for public comment before it is made final.

Compassionate use is another name for the FDA's expanded-access program, which began at the dawn of the HIV/AIDS epidemic when the agency allowed physicians to prescribe investigational drugs to patients considered otherwise doomed. More recently, the FDA has allowed the compassionate use of the experimental Ebola drug brincidofovir (Chimerix) and the antibiotic miltefosine for primary amebic meningoencephalitis. In each case, the agency has not yet determined that the drug is safe and effective.

The FDA has come under pressure to expedite compassionate-use approvals with the spread of right-to-try laws in various states. Such laws allow terminally ill patients to receive unapproved, experimental drugs and devices. The last state to pass such legislation was Arizona, in November 2014.

The FDA said that it's heeding requests for a speedier application process.

"We know why patients want access to these drugs and we know how busy their treating physicians can be," wrote FDA Acting Associate Commissioner Peter Lurie, MD, MPH, in an agency blog post today. "So we streamlined the new draft form to be shorter and simpler for physicians to fill out."

The current application form asks physicians to fill in 26 blanks and attach seven documents. The proposed application cuts down the paperwork to eight data elements and one attachment.

An organization campaigning for state "right-to-try" laws said today that the FDA is "finally getting the message," but still poses an obstacle to dying patients.

Anyone find alternate sources for Anatabloc

I also have purchased many times on E bay. Probably 15 bottles. All came as described in original sealed containers. I have no problem buying Anatabloc on E bay but the price is up naturally.

Little chance, in the foreseeable future, that Anatabloc will be back on store shelves or available via website. Hope I'm wrong.

  • Rock Creek gets UK MHRA nod to begin Phase I trial of Anatabine Citrate

US-based Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the UK's Medicines Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for a clinical trial application (CTA) to start a Phase I trial of its lead compound, Anatabine Citrate.

Compared to other anti-inflammatory drugs available such as biologics, steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Anatabine Citrate has a distinct anti-inflammatory mode of action.

The three-part Phase I trial is designed to determine the pharmacokinetic profiles of selected modified release formulation prototypes, as well as to evaluate safety and tolerability in healthy subjects.

Part one and two will both enroll 14 healthy subjects and are designed as open-label, non-controlled, single-dose studies of six different formulations with each dose separated by seven to 14 days.

The company said that the six drug formulations planned for testing in part one differ from each other in terms of dose and duration of action.

Part three is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, seven- day multiple dose trial of the optimal formulation in healthy subjects.

Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals CEO Dr Michael Mullan said: "This is the first clinical phase for our lead drug and will focus on safety and tolerability of six different formulations, five of which have modified release profiles and are of different doses. We look forward to generating our first human clinical data under this CTA."

The company's UK-based outsourced partner Quotient Clinical will immediately start enrolling healthy volunteers, with dosing scheduled to begin in February 2015, and with initial formulation PK data to emerge shortly after.

As part of the trial, Quotient will employ its Rapid Formulation development And Clinical Testing (RapidFACT) service to accelerate the development of these new, oral, modified release formulations that have been co-developed between the two companies.

  • Celiac Disease May Double the Risk of Coronary Artery Disease ------------------

    "Inflammation likely to blame

The association between celiac disease and coronary artery disease is likely mediated by inflammation. Chronic inflammation caused by excess serum acute-phase proteins, cytokines and cell-adhesion molecules—particularly C-reactive protein and interleukin-6—has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Celiac disease is a chronic autoimmune disease associated with elevated serum inflammatory markers. Increased risk of CAD has also been reported in other inflammatory disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis."
