I am thinking should this be an issue, it might be feasable to re-power these Teslas with a large GM high-performance V-8. Maybe all wheel drive too. Seems ashame to let that body and chassis go if the electric part of it doesn't pan out.
Well yes but..... VW was not able to swallow MAN and merge it with Scania. The MAN based MaxxForce engines failed, would it be worth it to fit them with SCR and try again? The DT's are being replaced by Cummins in the medium duty line as well. Temporary move? Maybe, but could this be the start of a an engine operations spin-off? What does Navistar look like without an engine division? There are a couple of big players that could make this work. There are also a couple of Asian companies that make fine certifiable diesels. Lots of possibilities here.
