  • The federal court in Texas handling the securities fraud class action against BP ruled that foreign shareholders can join the suit. Since the ruling, numerous UK pension funds have joined the class action, and even Shell joined the suit (Shell is UK-based).

I wonder if BP will start calling the Brits who are suing them "fraudulent" like they do to Gulf coast residents.

Hall monitor, find another board. Your obsession is disturbing. And creepy.

  • vikkitrader vikkitrader Jul 7, 2014 5:41 PM Flag

BP lied to the world. Stockholders who held after BP promised the spill wasn't that large, was controlled, would not leak long, etc. suffered losses when they sold at lower prices. If they held onto the stock, they can't be members of the class, because they suffered no loss, so your argument that they hurt themselves by suing BP doesn't apply.

I just find it strange that a company like BP can lie, and lie and lie and they are still believed. Hence the rhetorical question I posed - will BP claim that the British pensions are fraudulent like they did with Louisianans?

And I'm sorry if this story sounds like bashing to longs. It was actual news though, something many don't bother to post!!

I actually saw a BP commercial during a Sunday talk show that actually stated "BP supports 30 million jobs in the US."

If by "support" BP means that 30 million employed people fuel their cars at BP gas stations?

The lies this Company tells with impunity are, quiet frankly, getting more ridiculous by the year.

You would think the opposite would be occurring with the fines it has incurred.

I'm sorry, someone needs to call them out, and loudly.

Bill, I don't think you read my post very carefully. BP says in its televised ad that it "supports" 30 million jobs.

Your information just confirms that BP "exaggerates" (to put it kindly) the truth. I have no qualm with BP supporting 260,000 US jobs. That sounds quite plausible.

Of course I'm aware of what the actual "facts" are! I just think we'd all be better off if Corporations stuck to those!

People need to learn to think independently and not reflexively defend a corporation without checking first!!

    Good luck.

stoolpie, I didn't respond to "blimey1960" because it's obvious to me that he's a sock puppet of nadsmis. His ID was created yesterday. Besides, nadsmis offers nothing worthy of response. Just more anger. You're kind of one of those angry posters a little, but at least you have substance worthy of debate.

So please stop validating posts by nadsmis fake IDs which serve only to harass.

  • vikkitrader vikkitrader Jul 9, 2014 12:04 PM Flag

Awfully coincidental than that you suddenly appear right after nadsmis posts.

Nadsmis, who several weeks ago said he sold his BP and was out.

Nadsmis, who several months ago said he was putting me on ignore and would no longer respond.

Nadsmis, who follows me around board to board using fake IDs like a stalker.

If you want to know why someone with "no interest in BP" is posing here, start with him. My interest is documented - the legal suit, justice for victims and other issues.

Thank you, I consider this matter closed. You are free to return to obscurity.

stan, beware nadsmis. He is a virulent racist who will stop at no end to denigrate. He stalks people who challenge him, too. Oh, and he has a little baby pennis, which is probably to root cause for his dysfunctional menacing style.

When he says I'm a BP hater, what he means is "Baby Pennis hater."

For the record, that's actually not true. I don't hate Baby Pennises. Just not my personal preference.

    hee hee

PS. I bet Tom had a bigger one. You jealous? Yep. Now get lost before I tell the world how much of a loser you are!!

I find that highly insensitive, particularly to the families of the workers killed aboard the Deepwater Horizon.

Pointing to other so-called atrocities has never been a good way to justify bad behavior, whether it's in politics, history or, in this case, ecological/corporate disasters.

With all due respect, the appropriate way to address the ongoing harms caused by the Macondo disaster is not to point to larger problems but actually address the ongoing harms caused by the Macondo disaster.

I follow the story, and believe me, there are new findings published weekly as to newly discovered harms. The media has packed its bags and moved on.

In truth, your approach to the problem is somewhat infantile.

I implore all to do their own research and continue to pressure the appropriate decision/policymakers to ensure the problems are rectified as fully as practically possible.

    Thank you.

Adolph Hitler was heard to mutter the same words when he learned the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy.

I don't accept bullies or internet stalkers. The way to fight back is to fight back. Take back the night, take back the internet!

Nadsmis will end up in a cyberspace bunker with his fantasy soldiers until he meets his internet demise. Shun him for the sake of others.

    Thank you.

I agree there's a good number of researchers and scientists who continue to investigate the damage to the Gulf, but I see no basis to conclude they do so for a financial reason. Of course, we know BP has a clear financial reason to deny any problems.

If you have evidence to support your claim, you should provide a link.

Phase 3 of the trial next year will determine damages. You will hear much more at that time as to the actual facts. Argument here between non-scientists is pretty meaningless.

    Good luck.

And it didn't help BP's cause that the oil spill response plan it submitted prior to drilling at the Macondo site was cut and pasted from a North Sea plan, and found completely unreliable after the disaster.

The government took the position that, at a minimum, BP must show it has an updated recovery plan for the Gulf before the moratorium would be lifted.

One would think shareholders would want assurances that this type of disaster is not repeated.

FYI, the 5th Circuit court of appeals reversed the district court and ruled that former BP employees could sue their fund manager for negligently investing in BP shares in light of the Macondo disaster.

Based on prior posts from you, this sounds like a ruling that could benefit you.

"I am talking about the fraudulent claims that have been made and paid out with government support. The majority of claims is now believed to be completely or partially fraudulent."

That claim is absolutely false. If you believe claims are fraudulent because a bright-line causation test is not required, your anger should be directed at BP, which agreed on this to avoid litigation.

You might be interested to learn that June 2014 set another record for hottest June on record. In fact, that's 29 years of consecutive months with above-average temperatures, dating back to 1985.

I'm sure in your mind, it's all a big conspiracy by the liberal scientists.

Keep mocking, you'll be docking (your house when the sea levels rise). I made that one up myself, when you hear it you'll know I'm the real deal.

    Hi Chuck,

Your writing sounds very familiar, like that of an old friend. His name was Tom, and he formerly posted here. That is, until he was driven off by a racist who hated Asian-Americans such as yourself, or such as Tom.

Is this you, Tom. If you're more comfortable, I will use the alias "Chuck." I miss your tender ways.

I read today that the US leads the world in harboring climate change deniers.

One read of 2dogsdad's gibberish provides a glimpse into the juvenile stupidity that passes for communication, confirming what the rest of the world knows - American men lead the world in stupidity when it comes to issues affecting the world!!
