If one is interested in receiving dividend monthly or quarterly, that investor needs to know that the so-called dividend being advertised by BGY is actually 80% ROC. Look it up on cefconnect.com, then select distribution.
You not buying AOD is the best news we've heard today. This fund does not need wackos like you as one of it's investors. retiredafe8
If you are referring to comments by retired; we bought 1500 on 1 Feb and 1750 on 22 Mar, not that it makes any difference that I can see. Good luck to you, anyway. retiredafe8
The merger was the best thing that could have happened. EOE just could not get going. We also own ETG and it looks like it will also do OK. Good luck to you. retiredafe8
Since you say it's way off, what do you say it is? cefconnect shows 100% ROC for the last 3 months. Lets hear from you. retiredafe8
We have not lost any sleep over the status of AOD or any one of our other 16 CEfs or ETFs. We have been in the market since 1988, have gone thru our share of up and down market spirals. We would rather be in a market that only goes up, however, that being said, we are prepared to ride out bad times and enjoy good times. We do intend to stay with our present holdings, including PML and PMF that we acquired this past May. Good luck to you. retiredafe8
I don't think I will lose any sleep over the 3 postings of morawler. I got enough troubles and worries with our CEFs and ETFs and all the shenanigans going on in Europe that keep dragging down our investments. If the poster thinks about the outcome of the beer problems, maybe he can give us the results in a few short words. retiredafe8
We believe enough in HIX to now have 3250 shares, having bought on 1 Feb and 22 Mar 10. We own 2 other high income funds but do consider HIX to be least risky. We do mostly long term investing and intend to stay with this fund. Good luck to you. retiredafe8
If one buys this fund for the so-called high yield, that investor is short changing himself. That "yield" amounts to zero with this fund doing 100% ROC. In your case, you are ahead since the share price appreciated. We sold when PGP began doing ROC and we also sold at a higher share price. It all boils down to what one is after in owning a fund, stock, etc.
When you're comparing ETG and JLA, don't overlook what kind of dividend is being paid each fund. ETG has a dividend consisting of 100% income; whereas JLA consists of a lot of ROC. See for yourself on cefconnect.com. Good luck anyway. We still own ETG but dumped JLA because of excess ROC.
We bought 3813 shares in Jan 07 and have never considered selling despite the fund shares dropping like all the others in the market. A little patience goes a long way in this market environment. Good luck to you. retiredafe8
One of the more stable and least volatile funds we own is FFC. We bought in at 12.48, added more at 13.95, 14.01 and 14.64. Despite all the upheaval in the market the last weeks, we are still in positive territory. I would highly recommend this fund. retiredafe8
Just bought 2560 shares of PMF. Decided to cut down on taxes being paid to IRS. Also added more shares of PML today. We are trying to keep His Royal Highness Obama from grabbing more of our loot for all his pet projects. I have all the respect for the office of presidency, but none for the likes of him. All the liberals and minorities have elected a man that is intent on bringing down America by whatever means necessary. Have a nice day, if you can find one. retiredafe8
We are also fairly new to HIX, having bought shares on 1 Feb and more on 22 Mar. We now have 3250 shares and are planning on getting more shortly. We plan to keep this fund long term and also like the divvy. Good luck to you. retiredafe8
We decided to change investment strategy and start buying Pimco tax free CEFs for a while. Bought 1100 shares of PML today and planning on adding more on 26 May. This fund is one of the least volatile CEFs around and pays 7.1% and equates to a taxable fund paying 11%. Just maybe we can deny that piece of trash occupying the WH from getting his greedy hands on it. Lord knows we are paying enough Fed taxes as it is. GLTA. retiredafe8
Why don't you do us all a favor and jump overboard and die the insane death of a waterbug, drown. I doubt seriously if you have ever owned one share of anything. Good luck, with all your problems, you need it. retiredafe8
With the thousands of shares we bought at 2.06 and 1.51, we will be in the black at 8. Our initial buy was 18.36. We never doubted the RE sector would go up again. retiredafe8
Sure hope you are correct. We bought in initially on 9 Aug 07 and then loaded up on 13 Apr 09 at 2.06 and again on 4 May 09 at 1.51. We now hold 5000 shares and find myself wishing we had bought more. retiredafe8
Hey Bull...We think you're betting on the wrong loser. HIX has picked itself up and in the running again. Sure hope it keeps going as we own 3250 shares. Maybe you should buy some. Good luck to you anyway. retiredafe8
