Several high volume trades in the area of 175,000 to 275,000 shares as noted about every seven seconds between 3:56 and 4:00. Usually similar trading at the close means the market goes down the next morning but not necessarily right away..
I check for heavy volume trades between 3:55 and 4:01 p.m. every ten to fourteen seconds and if there are four or five instances of trades in excess of 110,000 in QQQ, I figure that the market will be up fifty to one hundred points the next morning usually right after 9.30 but not always. This is figuring that the trades during that timespan are more on the buy side than sell. Tonight's action at the bell there was one trade of approximately 500,000 and three or four averaging 150,000 so I figure the DJIA should be up 50 to !00 points in the early-going prior to 10:30.
Unless shown otrerwise,I regard it as an average to less than average short and long term outlook for the stock. If possibly the figure of 3.0 is outdated,it should be updated.
At 3:59 p.m. today - 8/26 a trade or trades of approx. 400,000 shares within 4 seconds of the last ,more likely than not a buy order or series of buys. The last time I saw this, the DJI went up the next morning but not right away.
The Dow Jones was opening strong by fifty to seventy-five points;meanwhile, GIS was selling off strong but came back shortly while the Dow stayed at about the same increase. Maybe the sell-off was due to insiders.
The Dow was staying near it's high for the day, meanwhile the stock was rapidly and steadily decreasing from approximately 15.62 to 15.46. I notice that the volume is quite heavy today.
I tried this morning to sell the 85 shares of ABT that I held at approximately 65.42 but the order did not go through and I had to settle for a lesser price. I notice that the stock is going lower.
Checking Yahoo Historical Prices this seems to be the general rule but not always. The day of the high volume does not usually mean that it will close near it's high for the day.
I don't think many investors think of it as a factor. They just bid up the price anyway on the basis of the increased earnings so possibly it will be possible to buy this stock at a slightly lower price than 51.15 which is where I saw it last within the last ten minutes.
Looks like the direction is upward. Checking Yahoo Historical Prices for KO the daily differential going back several months is moderate with a couple of exceptions making it a stock not to worry about too much.
Checking back over the last few months on Yahoo Historical Prices that appears to be the pattern although not by a great amount and it might take a week or more to see it develop.
Last I checked about four minutes ago it was 27 million shares and the average is 33 million shares at 4:00 p.m. This is Monday so the volume may be a little on the heavy side. Couldn't access that via computer. In any event to my way of thinking it looks in favor of the bulls.
