'obama's deceitful ways'? do you not recall cheney's quote about 'working through the dark side' ? why do you think he's known as Darth Cheney? and his 'by any means at our disposal' line?
the bush administration used 9/11 as an excuse to rob us *and* the rest of the world of our right to privacy. only one U.S. telecom refused to turn over customer records, and they were punished for it. cheney's pronouncement that laws would be broken for national security sent chills down the spine of anyone who was paying attention -- which apparently was not a great number.
oh for cryin' out loud....I know that the millenium falcon is faster than the starship enterprise, and that han shot first. do not try to school me on star wars, sweetie.
you could have cut out all the dithering and simply said you were making fun of the translation, and not the french people. (although 'a bunch of whiny thinned skinned little babies' is decidedly not a flattering description.)
I have been stewing over the 12 year old who committed suicide because she was being bullied about being overweight, etc.... and the fact that parents don't teach their kids that it's not ok to make fun of people for being 'different'....so that's my current frame of reference. people should be a little more considerate, a little kinder.
end of discussion.
'how the french talk' is different from 'how google translates'. I believe your post addresses the former.
and exactly who are 'you guys'?
I was reacting to the recurring theme of xenophobia on this board. there's a sense that it's ok to ridicule those who don't look like 'us' or talk like 'us', or think like 'us'.
you do realize that this board is frequented by people of many nationalities, no? I have read posts on this board from people whose first language is not english. if we have participants from france, how do you think they feel about comments like yours?
someone who has never learned other languages would not understand that syntax varies by country. in how many languages are you fluent? by all means, feel free to mock people who are smarter and more educated than you.
I used to spend time in an international chat room, and if someone's [english] spelling and grammar were impeccable, I immediately assumed he/she was not an american. the danish, for instance, typically study 8 years of english before they graduate high school. in comparison, our schools are a joke.
who are you to speak for 'all our military'?? you talk like they're sharing a brain.
first off, insurance premiums have risen almost 200% since 1999. the whole 'health system' is out of whack.
I'm sure you've heard about the man whose insurance wouldn't cover his hip replacement. he shopped around for services. in the U.S. it would have cost up to $130,000; he flew to belgium where it cost $13,000 total including airfare, accommodations, 5 days in the hospital, a week in rehab, and a top notch hospital and surgeon. [an artificial hip costs $350 to manufacture and can retail for as much as $37,000.]
the system is broken.
I think harry reid knows more about it than you or sean hannity:
"There are not now, have never been, nor will there ever be any discussions about exempting members of Congress or Congressional staff from Affordable Care Act provisions that apply to any employees of any other public or private employer offering health care.”
the only discussion was about whether buying from the exchanges precluded the usual subsidies from the government for 'federal employees' -- as in 'employer contributions'. there are no exemptions for congress in the kennedy health care bill. period.
omg, what planet are you living on???? I had no idea what you were talking about until I did a quick google -- apparently it's some viral email #$%$ to stir up the gullible like yourself.
the religious exemption covers insular populations that do not participate in government programs like social security or unemployment because they take care of their own -- like the amish and mennonites...there may be a cloistered muslim sect somewhere that qualifies, but I don't know of any. do you?
yeah, the 'YOU's' are the majority of americans who voted democratic....
you lost. get over it. given the juvenile behavior of repubs in washington, progressives will win the next election too.
guess you believe (like romney) that the garden of eden was in jackson county, missouri. pfffft
from thestreet - october 8:
"For now, until management shows a clear competitive strategy, I will stay away from this stock. Fiscal awareness alone doesn't make the company any more attractive than it's been. TheStreet Ratings team rates Alcatel-Lucent as a sell. "

just someone trying to start a rumor anonymously. we've seen it before.
riiight....the debt ceiling was raised 18 times under reagan, 3 times under obama.
"When President Bill Clinton left office, nine million jobs were created, the federal budget was balanced two years in a row and the Office of Budget and Management projected a $15 trillion surplus over the next 10 years.
When President George W. Bush left office, he had blown through any projected surplus, doubled the national debt and lost eight million jobs."
it's abundantly clear to anyone with a brain which party is most to blame for the destruction of the U.S....
if the country defaults on its debt, watch what happens come election time.
"This year’s federal budget interest due on the national debt has been cut in half and the interest payment is falling at the fastest rate in 50 years. Federal spending is down 8.4 percent. In addition, over 7.5 million private sector jobs have been created under Obama, a rate of growth the job market hasn’t seen in 14 years.
Under Obama’s administration, U.S. industrial output and domestic oil production are at the highest rate in 20 years. Less than 50 percent of our oil is imported, and alternative energy supplies have doubled.
The gross national product and the stock market have doubled. New home sales are rising at a rate not seen in nine years. The car industry has been saved with 75 percent of the debt paid and billions paid in interest."
if you're making money in the stock market, thank obama.
duh. try to follow along:
I was pointing out the dangers of shooting people with a pellet gun.
the students who were suspended were shooting at people on public property, with a potentially lethal weapon. there should be no consequences for that? why? because it isn't fair?
well, color me liberal for thinking it's a bad idea for kids to be shooting at other kids with a 'toy' that can cause injury and death. it has nothing to do with 'fairness'...it's a matter of common sense, which seemingly is not that common.
