Not only did they mess up with the ARM microserver concept, but they also lost focus on their graphics business in the process and are losing marketshare left and right to Nvidia.
But Rory did a good job of transferring the $$ the Arabs paid AMD for GF back to them. He was handsomely rewarded with a job at Dell.
You numbskulls think AMD is legit? Hellooooo... This company exists to con the shareholders and enrich the top management.
Actually the AMD debt holders have shorted the stock as a hedge. So they'll do OK or break even. Its the mutual funds that play with your money that will lose bigtime. But they don't care since its not their money.
That's why most mutual funds will never outperform the S&P 500 index. They just play with people's money. But people still buy mutual funds.. Its like the dumbessa Christians.
drops below zero anyways. Can AMD still continue operations with a negative balance sheet?
Aww shute. I was so looking forward to it now that seamicro is dead. ARM based server CPU's what will they think of next!!
ARM vendors are fabless and hence have to pay TSMC or Samsung to have their chips manufactured which raises the cost of their chips. In a commodity market where price is everything it just can't be sustained.
ARM's only hope was to get into the server/pc market, but that has failed. Say buh bye to ARM in tablets in a couple of years time.
Heres what could happen. Nvidia pays $2B for AMD debt, that will make the bond holders happy and Nvidia gets all of AMD for basically nothing.
will seal it for him.
SeaMicro, Caldexa... All failures.
Intel owns PC's and Servers. Next ARM will be pushed out of tablets once Apple moves to x86 based Ipads.
weren't they supposed to sell off of inventory?
If they can make it past this Q, its blue skies for them.
Just buy some company for $10M and add $500M goodwill to the balance sheet. That should keep it going for a while longer.
what she is talking about.
Just file for bankruptcy GIRL.
and I heard Jensen and Lisa make an excellent duet.
That's true.. AMD has been adept at financial engineering. Strictly because their bond holders will lose big if they file for chap 11. But I suspect that even their bond holders can't keep it alive when their shareholder equity (bookvalue) goes below 0.
they have filed for bankruptcy in District court of Delaware. Monday because they like the pain to be max for the dumb shareholders who are asking for and deserve the intense pain.
And Q2 is when this will dip below ZERO.
