Sarge, we have still been using DDT for years. Super for mosquito control, and now used in effective quantities instead of the vast amounts used in the old days , which caused so much harm. It is not sold commercially , but gov agencies are allowed to use it.
Stagg, my investments in the broader energy sector have more than made up the losses in the Aug15 to Feb16 period. I will continue to stick to my knitting.
I have enough trouble in the sector I know. I won't get involved in a market segment I no little of.
jk. This month has been insane. I am heavily into energy related stocks as it is the area I know best, but the ride up is now making me very nervous.
Looks like you can order that 2 pounder after all. My wife is visiting her sister in the US, as my wife is an American, she loves Maine lobster, which we don't get here . Envious.
Kee, Q1 results will be very poor as crack spreads were horrible. They are improving so maybe wait for Q 1 results to come out and buy on the dip.
Sarge, I am really sorry about the AAPL drop. I have a weird view on large caps. They are supposed to give the investor security and little volatility. However because of their size it is difficult to grow from such a high base. Thus unless something monumental happens they rise and fall with the market. If something slightly bad happens they drop. Thus I don't see much upside in large caps. I have always invested in small caps, where the volatility and risk are much higher. If I can get 2 out of 3 investment decisions right, I will be better off than having gone for the large cap route.
I recommended this share to the board a while ago. Even though the share has jumped, the reduced dividend is still very attractive, and the 2016 guidance is superb. It is worth a look.
pm, there are also future problems with the "geared" box ships. They will have to dispose of them at some stage and serious losses will be incurred as their depreciation policy does not reflect the real value of these vessels.
Kee, the future for LNG ships is much better than LPG ships. There is a massive amount of new LPG ships being launched in 2016/ 2017. The situation for LNG ships is a bit better, but do not expect any increase in charter rates, in fact there could still be a small decline.
