Look no further than our own political system to see the impending demise of democracy as we know it.
Fifty years ago, the most lucrative profession was entrepreneurship. Thirty years ago, medicine. Fifteen year ago, it was the law. Now it is national politics.
Win one election and you have free travel, free healthcare, better pensions, part time hours, and a salary three times the national average.
You don’t have to accomplish anything of substance. You continue to get elected by blaming others for problems you helped create.
Mediocrity with no accountability has over taken our democracy.
Representative government is supposed to mirror the aspirations of the people. The people want stability, predictability, tranquility. They want government to function evenly if not smoothly. They want leaders to provide an agenda to work toward their needs and wishes.
If the public only knew what the Presidents real agenda is, that would be a step in the right direction.
Other than bigger government, which continues to spend money we don’t have, what are he and Congress trying to achieve? The Republicans are clueless and the Democrats are simply lemmings following a person with no ability to lead.
"So then, getting past your silly diversion and back to the point, you apparently are fond of jonjac’s post about diarrhea, lew’s constant blatant racism of calling the President of the United States “liver lips” and wilkes advocating an armed uprising in our country."
I never addressed any of their posts. You're reading words that weren't in my post. Maybe that is why you think yours are being deleted...you are having trouble reading. I address only your complaints about Yahoo in my post. You're making overbroad assumptions again, and even you should know that lead to poor judgment and embarrassment.
Speaking of deflection, how about you stick to the subject of my post when replying instead of a silly rant..
Yahoo must dislike you personally, I can still see your AHO posts. I have not seen any of my recent posts deleted. What did you do to anger the Internet Gods? Are you feeing incompetent, picked upon and like the last kid picked for a team? Good, you should.
“Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
If this should be accepted as truth, then Obama must be expecting the death of our society as we know it.
...“I try to avoid having thoughts."
As last, a vision of truthfulness from Sir Echo!
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” – Henry Ford
And that often requires meeting, talking and negotiating with others to work together for the common good. That is a lesson that Harry, Nancy and Barrack have yet to learn.
But you can't provide goods and services that the people want and are willing to pay for without government help. If the rich folks support the Democratic Party somehow they are good businessmen, if they don't, they are thieves and crooked businessmen preying on the huddled masses that don't have enough 'government money' to spend.
My question then to the usual suspects, winholder, wilkes, lew, the many fake ricky’s, jon, et. al., is, are you in favor of attempting this ridiculously juvenile political extortion stunt, which has caused you to be the most unpopular political group in history, again shortly after the first of the year?
And what is your solution to cutting spending to save our economy? What is your solution to the job markets that have languished in the doldrums for the last five years? And what is your solution to the lack of trust and confidence that the world has in the US today? What is your suggestions as to how to get this President to keep his promise of a more open, civil and transparent government?
Surely your only answer cannot be Barrack Obama, because he is the absurd solution to all those problems. He created many of them, albeit with the help of several life-long Democratic ‘public servants.
Since has taken office our economy has continually gotten worse, despite is statistical claims. The job market has gotten worse, the job ‘created’ by the government are lower paying, shorter hours with fewer benefits. The scandals that have presented themselves to the nation are mostly based on lies told or facts simply not share…so much for transparency. Obama care was a radical, over-the-top solution to an issue that had many other less expensive solutions available that were not even considered. It was a pure and simply political power play.
The number of people working has fallen to a disgraceful level. The medium earning power of the middle class he professed to want to improve has fallen. The prices of the homes they own has fallen. Health care cost are rising faster than before and the government is spending billions to cause that to be a future reality that will only hurt this country.
He is not the solution, he is the problem.
Who selected you as the board monitor?
Do you have nothing else to do with your time but the type these dreadful tirades?
You of all people on this board should not be fuming about not answering questions. You're allowing your alligator mouth to overload your humming bird butt to again.
Join the rest of you? No thanks I prefer sanity to delusion. Besides I seriously doubt there is room in your basement for the rest of us.
You keep reading polls and thinking they count for anything, that will put you into a very small and 'special' group. Keep watching out the door for the short bus.
In 2006, when the national debt was less than half of what it is today, then-senator Barack Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling. In 2007 HE REFUSED TO VOTE ALTHOGETHER. The same was true for then-senator Joe Biden, who also voted against raising the debt ceiling in 1984, when the debt was just $1.6 trillion.
Said Biden in 1984, “I must express protest against continually increasing the debt without taking positive STEPS TO SLOW ITS GROWTH..” The debt today is ten times as large, but the administration opposes any “positive steps to slow its growth,” to quote our current vice president.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” said Senator Obama five and a half years ago. Would he say the same thing today now that the debt has shot past $16.7 trillion? Would he admit his “leadership failure” to get spending under control?
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are no better. They both have voted against increasing the debt ceiling in the past when they didn’t get what they wanted. In 2006, Pelosi decried a “debt ceiling of $9 trillion” as too high. Where’s her concern today?
In 2004 she argued, “We just can’t give a blank check over and over and over again to this administration.” Today, she’s eager to hand over that check to President Obama.
But the Democrats are engaging in more than just rhetorical hypocrisy. The president has claimed that debt-ceiling increases have never “in the history of the United States” been accompanied by negotiations on other issues. Of course, that’s simply false. The president is either deliberately misleading the public or ignorant of history.
How quickly the forget. I guess it must be their ages that Ricky keeps slamming Tea Party supporters about..
'the Republican Party is now viewed favorably by 28% of Americans, down from 38% in "
If the polls are so valuable as to the mood and the feelings of the American people and so important in your decision making, why aren't you posting the results of those polls that show Obama's approval levels falling like a rock off a cliff?
No, polls don't change things. They elect no one. They seldom if ever, change the actions or thought processes of the idiots that claim they know best how to run this government. The problems this government has are those created by that same government.
I like you don't spend all day on line looking for quotes and sayings to make my decisions or in attempts to make myself look educated. I try to relay somewhat on the news media in this country. But that takes a ton of salt with each newscast or editorial. What I see and hear is that most of the MSM finds polls interesting, and they will investigate the population of those polled when they disagree with the polls or they don't support their ideology. Other than that you mostly have to be inside the poll organization to gather that data.
I don't bother because I believe polls are more for political gain of some sort, or comic relief...kind of like your posts.
Mr. Wilkes, please don't be too hard on Sir Echo, after all he spends a lot of his basement time 'cutting and pasting' all those interesting quotes. It takes hours to scour the Internet looking for his attempts a displaying his wisdom. Finding new thoughts to copy are his daily attempts at 'original' thought.
He doesn't bother me, he does entertain me occasionally and it is fun to watch him squirm and show his truly far left political views., the like Ricky claim to be a moderate.
"I suppose that it’s a coincidence that both you and winholder reposted it, as neither one of you has ever had an original thought between you."
And you quoting something from Cicero is an original thought? It was cut and paste on your part from some Internet site. We just cut and pasted what you had already done so. It was simply sharing an opinion that we thought the quote accurately described our current President and many of this Democratic 'leaders.
Let me cut and paste a bit more of your 'wisdom': “While you have been decimated in the polls”.
What exactly does a poll do? Does it elect anyone? Does it impeach anyone? Does it change anything in Washington and cause many of our elected representatives to even pretend to care about the American people's best interest? Unfortunately no!
What is does accomplish is to provide a new whine for those without a better argument for their point to lean on like a rubber crutch. Polls are designed to achieve specific results. There was one last week regarding who is to blame for our current mess. It looked bad for the right. But when investigations were shared as to the audience...well they were about 55% union members, 73% Democrats, all taken on either the west or east coast cities. You know the bastions of liberalism!
Polls are fun to read and sometimes it is fun to listen to the pollsters defending their results and fools like you insist that they actually mean something. I wonder if they did a poll asking those polled how many really told the pollsters what their true feeling are would look like. Like most polls, it might be interesting and mildly amusing; it would mean little, just like the pools and your opinions of other people’s opinions.
You’re mildly amusing at times…this isn’t one of them.
WASHINGTON — Despite a promise of transparency, President Barack Obama has run a secretive government that’s chilling the flow of information to reporters while it tries to channel its version of news through its own government media, according to a new report from a journalists’ group.
The report says the Obama administration has curbed the disclosure of government information, limited the use of the Freedom of Information Act, launched a program of internal surveillance to stop people from talking to reporters and conducted an unprecedented number of investigations of journalists.
The search for leaks, the report’s author said, is the most aggressive since President Richard Nixon.
“In the Obama administration’s Washington, government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to the press,” says the report by Leonard Downie Jr. for the Committee to Protect Journalists.
“There’s no question that sources are looking over their shoulders,” Michael Oreskes, a senior managing editor of The Associated Press, says in the report.
The AP is one of the news organizations that’s been investigated, its phone records used to find and prosecute a former FBI agent who pleaded guilty to revealing information about a foiled terrorist plot in Yemen.
Since Obama took office, his administration has conducted felony criminal prosecutions of six government employees plus two contractors, including Edward Snowden, whom it accused of leaking classified information to the media.
...“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero
I didn't know we could find an example and a warning of Obama on line!
No, the health care industry is not out of control, well it is, but not as bad as the health insurance business. Rather than try to regulate the insurance business in a way that still left them profit but helped those paying the premiums, Obama and crew decided to fully destroy the insurance industry over a few years and make more and more people dependent on the government.
Heath care costs, being the prices charged by the doctors and hospitals were a function of the corruption between those two entities and the insurance carriers. Those three also colluded in various ways to corrupt and bleed Medicare and Medicaid in ways the government in their vast knowledge of medicine and insurance never saw coming.
Obamacare will go the same direction. Those with the intent are already planning and devising ways to fraud the system in the worst ways and our every friendly government minions don't have a clue and won't have the staff or dollars to prevent it. The IRS will be too busy catching those that don't sign up and no one will be looking for those that take unfair advantage of the system. Such is the way of nearly every government funded, excuse me taxpayer funded, and government planned process.
Many people believe that the taxes and increased costs of the ACA will further weaken our economy but it won’t be a gnat on an elephants butt compared to the fraud and corruption costs.
No the comparisons you made were what is ridiculous. Obama is not the only one in Washington that has the mistaken impression that our elected officials are some sort of elected royalty. They live a lot better than most of their constituents, they somehow manage to get rich and then richer as a result of their 'public service' while exempting themselves from many of the painful and stupid laws they enact for the rest of their 'subjects'.
The attitude that they are better, deserve more, and should be treated with an unearned and over abundance of respect and admiration is ridiculous. The attitude that they know best, that they have the right to ignore the wishes of the electorate if their choices will benefit their wallet or careers is bordering on dictatorial and oppressive. Those are the comparisons to overbearing and distasteful governments you should be making, not stupid comparison to burning down building. They don't burn them down; they just make them their own little fiefdoms and hide out there from the rabble in the streets.
Stick to the Party rhetoric Ricky, when you philosophize, you get over impressed away with yourself.
The reality is our government's history in managing money, programs they insist will save us and the lies they tell us when things do go they way they planned or they said they would.
The Congress of this United States as a program manager for their novel idea's is a train wreck. That is the reality!
How can you claim, with a straight face, that Obamacare is working? Most of it hasn't even been implemented yet and it is already a disaster and a dividing issue for this country. This will be another story of 'unexpected' failure.
Health care costs and program rules needed to be adjusted and changed. This is simply government overkill and with all their difficulties getting it implemented, poorly planned, and will be equally poorly managed. This, like most government programs will be poorly managed, budgeted, reported, and will be rife with corruption and cost over runs that will be totally 'unexpected'.
“Money plays the largest role in determining the course of history.”
