AMD has to cut the price. I built a machine with APU, all it does it quickbooks server and music. It does it. BARELY
Until you recently acquired ATI? for too much I might add.
What about executive compensation? pretty ridiculous given the performance of this company.
AND DO NOTHING.
Their quick ratio isn't bad, but the debt ration is much larger than 2.1 billion. More like 4 billion
That is the only thing they have under the bag, they have to outsource manufacturing, they have no fabs for memory, nor SSD's, or even CPU's. AMD is essentially a Value Added Reseller. they have to license ARM technology because they can't get the TDP down. AMD chips are junk. I recently bought some Radeon cards for mining (until I realized that was a scam) and the driver would never install correctly. PIECE OF JUNK...and they ran hot as hell! AMD won't be able to execute and they can't rely on ps and xbox sales alone. Their server strategy is a long shot and will likely add very little revenue to their bottomline. Not to mention, the paltry design wins. They are found in the bottom of barrel CHEAP junk computers. They abandoned their loyal gamers by pandering to the mining crowd and jacking up the prices of GPUs. mining is a scam because it's 1. not decentralized because the majority of mining power is held in the hands of the elite 2. 50% blockchain hack 3. exchanges plagued with hackers 4. not anonymous 5. Taxable....If AMD had any sense as a , so called "CUSTOM" chip designer they would have designed a specific mining chip targeting those users. But they have such a small R and D budget they simply can't compete. It's funny that Qcom came out and ran over them, it's funny that Apple's inhouse design team grabbed some of AMD's best engineers, It's funny that Samsung has no interest whatsoever in buying AMD. Why would they? They have no need for them, their IP, etc. And with the open ended license with intel on x64, AMD has no competitive edge there either, making them an unlikely target for acquisition. This company is a turd. Still I believe it would be a drop in the bucket for MSFT, GOOG, SAMSUNG, APPLE to pluck up for ATI alone.
I'm selling my shares when I break even out of principle.
They don't manufacturer them, so any profit if any will be negligible. Not to mention, they have no competitive advantage. I predict this will lose money for AMD, not make. They will take on tons of inventory to be rebranded for low margins in a saturated market for SSDs, They are doing the same with memory. They do not make anything. Anyone can go to Global founderies, OCZ or micron and have products made and rebranded. AMD's 24 watt chip gets creamed by a 4watt intel part. FACT! going to dump this turd as soon as possible.
AMD selling SSD, rebranding ones is a sign they have a weak market position. PERIOD, Now keep living in denial.
does this mean that they will be left with tons of unsellable junk. to write off?
That is not true that AMD doesn't want to compete in tablet or phones. They can't. Their technology doesn't not offer a low enough TDP...
what a joke. AMD is going to rebrand another company's product. SO WHAT I can do that. Why would OCZ give them the best and latest, AMD will will wind up with more Radeon branded back logged inventory. It underscores AMD's truly weak position in the market. The only hope is that they are bought up for their patents. I sold Nokia before the buy, and I regret it. I'll keep holding this turd longer, because I believe in it as a takeover target. As far as it being a leader in the industry. That is a joke. Just look at the paltry offerings on their own website...
because i'm a shareholder and I'm blown away at the stupidity of this move. it underscores AMD's really weak position against competition
