Have to agree with posyche, down over $2 since you recommended it. and hitting new lows. Posted this on spil board. See Haschutlz good commentary and research...Long Himx
Glad I didn't bite on this one, thanks Haschultz. Sorry Jeb, you lost more than the price of the dividend on this one. Will continue to watch, but this is simply not a good buy now. New lows every day.
Thanks, haschultz1, Good info. I almost purchased, had order in, but pulled it yesterday, glad I did.
Holding some cash, looking for appreciation, but considered this for dividend income, once a year, like HIMX. Still in on HIMX, add more eventually. Thanks again.
Just my luck, yesterday put GTC order for $6.79 hoping to pick some up on the possibility of a quick downturn then upswing. Oh well, have to be content with what I have. Then Chardan comes out...well, now have to look and perhaps add more at a higher price...things looking good and bright. Patience can be a virtue. GLA
Geoxbets, dividend reinvestment plans (DRIP) also give you fractional shares when purchased, not just whole shares. At least that has been my experience. So, if you are not comfortable holding a fraction of a share, then reconsider. I did a good number of DRIP programs to get started with investing, with AFL, XON, GE, VZ, and MCD. No longer in them. Applaud your goal of setting up goal for grandchildren, but you probably are aware that they will have to begin withdrawal of your ROTH after you die, but based on their life expectancy. Like you, am 70, looking to establish something for granddaughter. And yes, you still have time, since dividend is paid in July. Good luck.
Wife wanted to see movie, Jurassic World at the IMAX in 3-D on Friday. So we did. I was blown out of the water. Amazing movie, but all the time I was thinking, "wow, HIMX is in AR and VR, and in Holla and Occulus and if this movie in 3 D is any indication that I'm glad I'm in HIMX.
Earlier on Tuesday we purchased at Best Buy a Samsung 55 inch Ultra High 4 K television because she liked the brightness and clarity. And of course, I think anyway, HIMX is in that too. Also purchased sound system.
Disappointed I didn't buy more at below $7 or low $7. Was hoping to sell another stock and use proceeds but finally got rid of it, and waited too long for HIMX. Have cash available for any downturns though. Still holding long term in cash account and in ROTH. Would like to purchase next week below $8.25..Good luck all, Happy Father's Day to all who are in the role of "fathers."
Remember the saying: "no one goes broke by taking a profit." Good for you. If I had done it, along with many others, at 16, even 15, we might have been buying back in at lower prices, possibly at 6. Glad you made some money. Now you'll be looking for another stock.
This just out by WSJ about stronger investigation. Perhaps someone we all know might be investigated?
The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation into some activist investor funds, The Wall Street Journal reports. The regulator is focusing on whether some activist investors teamed up to target companies without disclosing their alliances. That would violate federal securities rules. When investors coordinate their efforts, such as when they jointly agree to buy, sell or vote securities, they must file disclosures. A group of investors working together must disclose the arrangement if they together own at least 5% of a company’s stock or are soliciting votes from other shareholders. The SEC has increased its scrutiny of trading disclosures and this initiative is part of a broader effort by the agency to promote transparency, the Wall Street Journal reported sources as saying
I was thinking: Good for them! Coming into Jay's territory, with some good news. Give Jay a slap in the face. Go HIMX.
Good fine, here is more info Apple confirmed the acquisition with its standard response when it buys a company. “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” said an Apple spokesman.
Metaio has worked on a technology that allows people wearing Google Glass-like eyewear to make any real world surface into a virtual touch screen. It also created software to let developers create tablet apps that flash repair instructions across the screen when the tablet’s camera is pointed at machines such as car engines or a printer.
The acquisition comes a few months after Piper Jaffray senior research analyst Gene Munster said Apple has a small team exploring augmented reality technology. He argued that Apple could help develop AR products that appeal more to consumers than products like Google Glass.
Apple news site 9to5mac reported earlier this week that Apple is working on adding augmented reality features to its Maps application. The feature would allow a user to point an iPhone camera down a street and it would overlay information about restaurants, cafes and other local businesses in that vicinity.
Jeb, even if they are low, even if they are 5%, selling quantity makes a difference. I do expect a reply since you always reply to everything anyone writes on the board. Good luck. Sometimes it is best if you just shut up.
