That's nice to say but his track record on nvidia has been more right than wrong. Not to mention I wouldn't ever take his advice on anything in a lightning round. I think hes wrong on this one though. Chances are he saw Intel with a good quarter and Nvidia with a run up before its quarterly results. Usually his rule of thumb is to take profits. as well as to not buy until the dust has settled after a quarterly report . Chances are he will be back to buy if he got asked after Nvidias report. His opinion changes as quickly as the market does.
Nvidia is powering many of the incredibly profitable cloud computing plays. These plays are expanding capacity. Wonder if words finally getting around on that. Along with being the reason tesla has an automated mode now. And the first publicaly available version of it. It doesn't hurt that tech should be seeing a real leap in performance the next year or so that hasn't been seen in a while... Plenty of upgrades waiting to happen just for Pascal. So at the very least next year should be a banner year. plus I've been hearing custom GPU here... and custom GPU there. Its been an onslaught of good news on all fronts from Nvidia.
Nvidia needs to convince wall street that its here to stay and that its not getting weaker. Wildfire growth in MOBA could be the final burden of proof for that. Especially in the "Dieing PC market".
I didn't say 30 and was trying to add other things that could come up that might help see a solid boost... In my opinion it doesn't belong below 25. However the market takes it where it takes it. With huge short interest and strong growth. It could easily pull off a suprisingly big move. With that said all the big and cool stuff is next year and beyond... Die shrinks and HBM2 next year alone is big not to mention everything else...
Actually the 950 being geared for the MOBA crowd could be bigger than it seems. MOBA type games is a big market and socially competitive. some people are going to claim it gives them an edge whether it does or not. For the slight advantage other MOBA players may pick them up. With the social aspect It has the recipe to spread like wildfire if the 950 catches on in this group... More market-share and more revenue cant hurt even if its not as exciting. To top it off, With the increased exposure on the low end might be a gateway to selling higher end cards down the road... Nvidia picked a very nice target.
