Hi DocReits,
I'm happy to hear again from you. I been doing well these days. I have recently purchased a small 24 unit apartment building for 400k in Houston, Texas. I'm only playing with in the market with 100k. The reason I bought the apartment building is because if I lose everything, at least I have an apartment building to fall back on and I'm not left homeless on the street somewhere begging for a job or a handout. My greatest fear is losing everything and I bought that apartment building, so that I may have something safe to fall back on.

What would you say are the odds of AGNC management announcing a dividend cut to investors this quarter?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I used to trade LINE call options until LINE management changed their distribution payout from quarterly to a monthly basis, so the usual $35-$39 LINE trading channel seems to have become "extinct". I have been on the hunt for an Alternative to LINE and I came across OKS Oneok Partners which trades in a "range" between the lower $50 - $52 to $57 - $60 every quarter. I am contemplating on purchasing either the September 2013 or the October 2013 $45 Call Options and holding them Long during the OKS distribution run up in July 2013.
Are any of you also planning to trade OKS this quarter?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I went into real estate because I find it safer, plus it provides me with steady income and appreciation.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
It can net me anywhere between 85k-95k in net cashflow after taxes, maintenance, and property management costs, assuming that I'm able to keep all of my 24 units filled. In Texas property values are still low compared to some parts of the nation.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
NTI beat earnings and announced a big dividend. Nice : )
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I will be watching the political events closely and see if there are any signs of a compromise between both parties, which I highly doubt. I will also monitor to the market itself closely and see if it moves downward with the political fiscal fight. My plan is to let the market go lower, lower, lower and to use this political/market chaos for my benefit (it allows me to buy my calls much cheaper btw), I plan to buy in 1-2 days before their "official vote date" regarding the debt ceiling. The market usually skyrockets upward after any debt ceiling debate resolution (remembering early January 2013).
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I have been doing some research on UAN aka CVR Partners.
I do wonder what are the odds of the market going through another "Debt Ceiling Crisis" next week if the Republican held House is unwilling to vote in favor of raising the debt ceiling?
@ Insign06 , I too am hoping for the best on my NTI trade. Good luck to us all : )
Sentiment: Strong Buy
The apartment building is in Houston, Texas. In the southwest part of the city.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
It is not a Section 8 housing, the tenants there are working class people, they are busy and productive.
I agree and thanks for sharing your story too, Bovisutor. The reason why I decided to do real estate is because everytime I go in the market, there is always the risk that I can lose it all. My days of betting the "whole farm" in one single trade have ended, I want to have a good life, I want to live a long healthy life. I don't want to lose everything like what happened to me in December 2012, where I suffered a 90% loss in my options. That was a painful lesson for me.
There is an apartment building near a major intersection by my home that is selling for $375k and the owners are willing to take less than $375k if I pay them cash. I looked around and there are no fertilizer plants, just homes, maybe the gas station on the corner, but no fertilizer plants at all.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I purchased 150 NTI June13 $22.50 Calls today, I'm aiming to sell at $27.50-$28 range. I have made a big change in my investment strategy. I now only trade with 100k and less. I have placed my remaining 400k into real estate (planning to buy an apartment building soon with 24 units in a good neighborhood), a safer alternative to options. This apartment building can provide me with passive rental income for many years to come and I'm buying it cash. I'm just letting my friends here on the Forum know my whereabouts and what I'm doing. I'm also keeping my eye on BMY, the "swoon" of BMY is coming soon, I'm planning to scoop up some BMY $38 September13 Calls into my portfolio and ride them up to $42, God willing.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
@ Whosejake1, I left Line with only a small gain the day after the announcement. I guess I'm the reason why it would go up higher than 38.60 after. I was slowly getting out, but I got out successfully. I have 150 NTI $22.50 June calls right now and hoping we go up to at least $27.50-$28pps share and I will evacuate with a small gain, any more is extra gravy.
Could this be the correction that we are waiting for?
I read a news article that said that between May 18-19, 2013, our "sincere and hardworking" Congress will have to vote on whether they will raise or not raise the debt ceiling...
I'm holding 100k in cash, which I plan to pour into BMY September 2013 Calls at the height of this "Crisis" ... should it happen next week.
Do any of you see a Crisis in development...or will there be no Crisis at all? Please share their opinions, thanks.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Approximately between June 5-7, 2013. This is just an estimate.
I see that NTI is approaching its distribution declaration date which could be between May 13-15. But I also hear about rumors of an imminent price capitulation for NTI. Which one do you believe is more likely to happen, a distribution run up or a downward capitulation for NTI?
I sold my July 35's when LINE peaked up to $38.99 not too long ago and then I went back in with May $36 Calls a few days after. I took my profits at the peak and came back when the price pulled back. These are my new guerrilla tactics, hit and run. If I meet my target earlier than expected, I pull the trigger and run with my winnings, and come back after it has pulled back.
