    NO; but thy do pay a nice divy of $ 3.92 or 11.90%. on the stock. I will wait to see if I want to buy the stock. If the stock were put to me at $20 less the $1.35 premium would I be happy. Yes. Check the options table and you will see a trade for 10 contracts and open interest of 113.

    It is of utmost importance to have a diverse portfolio of stocks and options. I like to keep at least 30 different stock positions and 30 different long term put positions. When I close a position out, I replace it with another. I like stocks that pay a dividend and long term put options, where the theoretical value is less then the option premium. Today I have MPW put options that expire worthless for a 100% return of $63 per contract. I
    replaced this with the sale of put options on SDRL. I sold the Jan 15, 2016 $20 strike at $135 per contract or $1.35 per share. The stock is trading at $32.74. The theoretical value of this option is $0.167 per share. I try to build a safety net into each trade. Just thought I would pass this on so you can see that longer term put options can make you just as much money as trying to time and trade short term options and having to be tied to the computer; worrying about the position..

    This jump in MU all centers on the SNDK earnings and in particular the statement about sales of SSD. The same business MU is in. The only problem is that MU did not high-lite this as a source of strong growth. So it leaves this question to ponder. Why the jump?

    It can change; but there is no way to tell as the online services only calculate MOP before the open. The MM's can also use this to sell forward call options and neutralizes any loss along with buying back any forward put options sold at higher prices.

    This is so crazy! Who would have thought SNDK news would cause MU to jump, even after all the negative comments in the media about MU. But, as I have said before: news and comments can affect the price of the stock. At this point I am not sure where we will end up. This is the very reason I either buy stock on drops or sell the put long term put options on stocks.

  • Check out the massive numbers of call options being sold in forward months. The only problem is that they are being centered around the $23 area + /-.

    What is happening? It looks like the SNDK earnings has propelled that stock to a higher open and also pulled MU along. SNDK rallied and leveled out and MU rallied and then dropped and rallied back up. MU seems to be stuck at the $23.50 level on the 1 min chart. This is either shorts covering and or new buyers trying to buy technology at a cheaper price from SNDK. OP is still stuck at $22 and I find it hard to believe that the MM's will not try to bring it back down as we still have the rest of the day. A drop below $23.11 could trigger a pullback to a much lower level. The put options that expire today have large drops in price. We could see the stock price reversse latter today to make the call options prices drop.

    advance;

    If you consider the fact that SNDK reported that their SS drive sales were up then that could be considered a negative for MU. MU might recheck $22.70; bt then I believe we will head to $21.93. JMHO

    Sometimes they do. The problem is that when a stock has options expiration every week it is so much easier to manipulate. The MM's and big money can push the price of the stock around to profit from the option pain. They play for profit today and most investors play for a longer time frame. JMHO

    You have a really good post that is very well thought out!!!.

    I had to go out for a while and it surprised me that SNDK took that jump. Looks like a lot of shorts got caught and decided to buy. It would not surprise me if SNDK didn't sell off at the end of the day Thursday. The OP number is $74.50, which has not been updated yet. SNDK also had a very large swing today from a high early on of $77.50 to a low of $74.82. After looking at today's option transactions, I believe that this could pin right under $76.

    As far as MU is concerned, it surprised me to see that MU had passed my upside target of $22.70 by $.07. and after looking at the call and put volume today, I still believe that MU will pin at $21.93 area.

    INTC also had a chart pattern similar to SNDK and is $0.93 above its OP of $26.

    US Futures are down just a bit and Asia has opened mixed; but looks ok for now. JMHO

    $22.57 is all it would go. MU has tested $22.41 repeatedly so I believe that will be the ceiling for now and that any further moves will be down to the $21.93. JMHO

    I would say that on the call side you have existing call owners selling their calls in order to salvage some of the money spent to purchase and on the put side you have the put option sellers buying optionsback to avoid having the stock put to them.

    MU is being worked. It has now tested the $22.41 area 4 times and you really have to take a look at option volume and strikes,
