Just ordered a X75D for June delivery. $85K plus delivery charge. I think Tesla will lose money on this one. It is a great car even without all the options.
Tesla has a formula of discounting $1 for every mile driven, and 1% for every month since it left the assembly line. Tesla is probably the best car company out there, and I wish them a great success. I'm betting against the crazy corrupted investors.
I got an inventory p85 autopilot with 10k miles before incentives for $78k It had 10500 miles. The discount was like $30k+.
I wonder if this figure includes new orders for Model 3. As I've said, you can now order a Model S of any color and/or option without having to wait. Cars were already made ready for purchase, and they hardly move as we can see from the 12K model S delivery number.
The total model X reservation is no more than 40K globally, and I've heard people trying very hard to back out of the purchase. And I don't think Tesla will deliver more S than X this year based on what we know about Model 3.
Tesla has been constantly introducing new features every quarter since model S introduction, and that makes people buying impulsively. I don't see any faster cars coming out. A bigger battery is not enough. A autonomous driving system will make the cut. This is consistent with Elon's urgent need for talents to work on self driving cars.
purely delusional. The price would have to drop substantially on S or even X! to make the number. Either way Tesla will miss on rev, and the loss will be huge. I'm trying to be very objective because I've owned many Teslas, and I know the car and their value well.
Unless Tesla introduces 100kWh battery at the same price, or they push out "semi-autonomous" driving soon, they wont make the number, not even close!
The number for model S and X will be so bad that Tesla will release it together with the pre-order number on Wednesday to minimize the damage.
It was reported 2 quarters ago that Tesla was not only producing custom ordered cars but also cars that weren't ordered. The list you see are brand new cars waiting to be moved. They would take some off the list, and replace them with new ones. That definitely doesn't seem like the cars were sold.

Basically, you can buy any Model S of any color and options new without have to custom ordering it and wait for it to be produced.
