The acquirer fails to pay enough to the executives of the company to be acquired.
In order to succeed in this takeover Teva failed to pay enough golden parachute money.
Looked at MON chart and it doesn't look enticing based on its last stock price drop from 127 to 47. (127 is about 270% of 47)
"Congress may block states from GMO food labeling"
Likely that the Federal Government will prohibit states from mandating GMO food labeling.
How do they enforce that:
By not making payments to states that require food labeling.
Feds get taxes and fees from states via individuals.
States receive some of those taxes & fees back from Feds.
Feds control states by amounts rebated to states.
Lobbyists ultimately control what the Feds do and do not do.
Good for Monsanto because Monsanto has a strong lobbying force.
Agree. Strange timing of the announcement. See latest SEC Filing, summary.
"Total VASCO revenues from all sales to the particular distributor during the period relevant to review by OFAC and BIS (June 1, 2010 through June 25, 2015) were approximately $3.1 million."
Some part of $3.1 million by the offending 3rd party distributor over the 5 year period.
Massive debt, commitments to vendors.
See Bloomberg report today on NFLX off balance sheet amount due to vendors.
Netflix says the off balance sheet amounts are not on the balance sheet because they don't know what the amount is (see Bloomberg today).
But, that's ok. Another AMZN in the works here until a better mousetrap comes along.
I've learned from over 50 years experience investing that companies without an emergency exit do not do well. I prefer companies with the strongest foundation with all footings in place.
The good thing is that Macy's has been a great investment for decades but it's now over. I can thank Stanford for the opportunity to get out and move on. I feel sorry for they buyers at this point unless they get out sometime before the demise.
Review the balance sheet coming out of this quarter. The reason for the drop is in it.
Cash down. Receivables down. Other issues. Points to a potential problem next quarter.
You know nothing about Buffet beyond what you "believe" to be true, most of which is not.
Fruit of the Loom filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 1999.
"We've agreed to buy Fruit of the Loom for two major reason: the strength of the brand and the managerial talent of (Chief Executive Officer) John Holland," Buffett said.

I don't know either of you and I hold no shares in SQM.
I do have a agriculture background, wrote a book on the subject, grew up on a farm, and my university education is agriculture.
Message I have: User nadienone has no knowledge of what role SQM has in agriculture.
As to "information", it sure looks like you have a family grudge somehow related to this company and it is far more political than fact.
My position is only to keep track of SQM and buy the stock when it bottoms.
As to politics, I know little about Chile other than major historical players, not current. I do know the power swings back and forth.
I also know, and expect, continuous corruption throughout South America. It is the top 5% who continuously smash the economies of all Latin American countries. Is it not odd that South America has far more natural resources than USA and yet has remained in poverty for about 250 years since Europeans (primarily Spanish & Portuguese) settled in USA & South America. Primary reason: South Americans have this whacky tendency to send any cash they have out of their country to USA instead of investing it in their own country. Also there has NEVER been any form of equality between rich and poor. Poverty is an attribute to be discriminated against at all costs. NEVER allow a poor person / family to become wealthy.
I looked at the internals of some of those washers and dryers.
Sure look the same basic stuff inside like belts, motors, ballast handling, etc.
I also looked inside Whirlpool appliances and found the exact same parts in their Maytag. Sure looks like a boondoggle to me. LOL
Note: I have a friend who owns an appliance store who said the same as you and we looked inside several appliances to see their components. Also, you can get an idea by searching for parts on various appliances.
I suspect you are like me. The best dishwasher is the one that has no optional buttons to push. The best Washing Machine likewise. Refrigerators / freezers should only have an ice maker and temperature controls without lights.
Nor did any concern show up in borrowing rates for Italy, Portugal, Spain or other EU countries.

Italy borrowing rates are virtually unchanged this week.
That is a clear signal Italy is NOT anywhere near a crisis.
