"Kind of like when IBM provided services to Germany in the 1930s to track Jewish citizens.?
Now the NSA does it.
"Isn't that kind of like taking out a loan against your own 401K?"
stnan - can you explain why buying back shares is like taking a loan out against your own 401k?
Inquiring minds wanna know.
"Very soon they will own more shares than there is outstanding !!!"
They already do!!!.
IBM's highest share count was about 2.3 billion and today it's under 1 billion.
IBM has to keep buying, the process depends on averaging with levers to control it.
You have to buy shares when they are declining to offset buying into an ascent.
The legacy of Louthridge is at the helm of IBM capital allocation
Can you explain what a "bits and bytes" economy? If I check out at Home Depot with Apple Pay I still owe for it right?
Also, "Not just IBM, they are all going to get cut down to size - Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, SAP, Capgemini, Accenture and so forth." Sounds like doom approaching.
What are you doing? All cash?
I hope you get hamsters in your cloud!
And may 100 fire ants invade your crotch.
"You are FOS!!
I been looking at the board from time to time Loser - you ain't BSing me!
I am a legend remember - you said it!"
I'm hurt that you don't trust me dell. I thought we had a relationship?
I posted same in early August on this very board. Out at $189. I held way too long.
You are a legend -- you and whiteowl, dr fungcool, detblackcat, me, and others.
It's been a good run for me -- maybe around $250k gains on ole Big Blue.
Ya see son, I don't let my cost basis or history affect my decisions.
Let's meet back here once a year on Q3 IBM earnings date.
So you can leave now and hit the bong & 6 pack.
See ya, wouldn't want to be ya...
Yo mr millionaire I've been out for over 90 days. Sold much higher than you.
You need to read my stuff pickle.
"I don't know why you want to defend IBM execs who publically declare that they are going to forego any bonuses, expect rank and file to forego the same, and then turn around and cash in millions in stock options."
Your source in the prior post is not verifiable. Second, we are not talking $ millions of stock options, it's $ billions. I know something about IBM's stock option procedures. Those procedures are good for IBM senior employees and IBM's approach in the most shareholder friendly of big tech.
I wasn't defending IBM execs, I was reacting to vague innuendo about IBM. Regardless if your claim to be repeating the opinions of an anonymous employee that's all you posted.
If you want to critique IBM why not use verifiable facts? The shadow employee stuff is worthless.
Hey stnan you didn't cite any verifiable sources for your rant.
Anyone who speaks broadly in declarative statements about which IBM employee's get pay raises or their ability to change locations is just engaging in spiteful and incredible name calling.
"Meanwhile the senior staff at IBM knows all that and they treat the employees accordingly. Nobody else in the computer industry wants to hire overpaid under-skilled workers."
The age old envy of those higher up. They all must have faked their way to senior staff.
Telling, very telling. And so noted.
YOMD - IBM Monitor
"once you lie"
Is it just one lie? Or more than one lie?
Can you please list a few lies as well as exactly who was told a lie?
Thanks, and for the Board...
The market volatility motivates a lot of people to post cute one liners.
Personally, I find them vapid and boring as so many are tautologies.
As if the folks who read message boards don't have an ISP or a TV.
We are not impressed.
Howard Dean set the standard for leading a rally after a loss.
Let's all end the day at 4pm with a scream for IBM...
Ginni went down there and threw some shrimp on the political barbie.
Alls well now mate.
Give a care then and buzz off.
