awesome. another nut-house mark twain.
keep buying, sucker.
i will never have to cover.
Except, laughably, AMD. I don't think anyone should need any more proof that the people who trade in this piece of junk have no connection with reality.
Thank you for allowing us to remind you: NOBODY IS BUYING AMD.
Su will have to sell pieces of AMD and bankrupt the core company and cancel the shares.
Keep up the good work.
Usually. But in this case it means they fired him for simple nonperformance (not anything criminal) and don't have a legal excuse to deny him money that was written into his contract.
Read the release. AMD executives get paid a nominal "salary" and get a significantly higher "bonus" that has a _minimum_ value and no maximum. This is a con; it makes investors think a big part of their CEO's pay is performance-based when it's not.
AMD is a clear case of the lunatics running the asylum, and the absentee investors just letting all their equity get bled away.
$5 million cash, and about 3.4 million shares of stock (currently worth $9 million but soon to be worth next to nothing), plus an undisclosed annual "bonus", because, in true AMD tradition, being a galactic failure as CEO is outstanding performance. So they're giving him significantly more than $14 million to spend 3 months sandbagging the company and polishing his story about why he was really canned. In all he's conned this company out of about $50 million in money he never deserved.
Su will get a handsome pay package as well, but not nearly what Rory was being paid. His was worth about $15 mil a year. Hers will be just north of $9 mil. Don't let anyone fool you that companies value women the same as men.
AMD pop already down to 2 cents. So much for any hopes of an updraft from INTC.
The bleeding on Thursday is going to make the ticker run red on Friday.
Zack's doesn't do analysis, it does a summary of others' analysis. So if you're not trusting them, you're not trusting analysis at all.
Sorry. I had to thumbs-down you there. furphart doesn't understand the meaning of "thinking".
Remember, AMD can grow its server box sales by helping INTC grow server chip sales. But that helps INTC a lot more than it helps AMD. Unless AMD's plan is to stop trying to pretend it's in the chip business and gets whole-hog into being an Intel server OEM.
If Intel had missed by a penny, AMD might never have opened again.
But don't hope for more than a dopefish bounce out of AMD. it's up 6 cents AH, but that will evaporate as the bottom feeders start to do the due diligence they're ignoring on this pig. AMD will announce on Thursday, and it's obvious their announcement will not be pretty. Lisa Su can blame Rory, but shareholders have only themselves to blame.
"Given the positive chip environment, "
Intel doing well does not mean the entire semiconductor industry is doing well. Microchip and Micron just warned. AMD didn't warn, but if you didn't see the signs in the firing of Rory Read, you're a complete fool.
In a quarter that saw AMD lose its CEO, Intel beat expectations. Which likely means AMD lost more business to Intel.
AMD will be drawn up by any draft in INTC, but it will not hold.
Jesus wasn't CEO of AMD. Has Rory risen from the fired?
Anybody remember what Baghdad Bob was saying just before the bombs landed behind his head?
If Intel beats, which is likely, it could raise AMD as people unclear on the concept of Due Diligence start casting about for bottom-feeder fodder. They'll do the math after they pull the trigger, and AMD will give up everything it gains over the next couple of weeks. But in this case, AMD is set to announce results so bad they got the CEO canned without forewarning. You can't really know that Intel will beat, though, so buying AMD now isn't warranted. But once they beat, if AMD gets a pop out of it, it will be an extra shorting opportunity going into AMD's announcement, which is scheduled for Thursday.
I plan to be making even more money tomorrow.
