myth.....stock buybacks increase the stock price. They don;t. What this accomplishes is another back door entry and opportunity for the exec's to raid the cookie jar. Bad for stockholders. Raising the dividend, takes money from the exec's cookie jar and increases stockholder value. Good for stockholders.
buy backs simply masks problems. Looks like your earnings per share have increased but in actuality its a reduction of the amount of shares that gives the illusion that earnings have increased. That strategy was fine when first implemented by many firms years ago. But now the investment community is somewhat more savvy and this scenario is quite frankly TIRED.
Agreed, but I urge you to not respond to the robots. I believe that they have a system akin to the robo callers. Do not even give them a thumbs down.
buying back shares is sooooooo......2006 . All companies do that. It does not help the bottom line. We need to grow revenue. Please Ginny, can you help us with that ?
topinvest....this is like rotating an aircraft carrier around in the Hudson River , ( NY ). The ship was heading due northwest , towards Albany, Then turned around towards the Bear Mtn bridge. Now its on its way due East and will leave the harbor in due time. A lot of churning in its wake but eventually after passing Staten Island and the harbor the successful 'turnaround' will be realized.
did you lock the door on the way out from your job as " Supervisor level 3 in charge of latrine maintenance? "
stock....you sound smarter than the Dutch ? They don't know what they're doing ? They didn't think this out ? You should apply for a job with Shell. Go to the top immediately. My only worry is if they can maintain the div. now that they need mucho euros and stock to buy this outfit. Don't think for a moment that Shell will be abandoning the oil business in favor of gas. Its not going to happen.
