Are you overwhelmed by the thought of spring cleaning? Now that this long, cold winter is over, it’s time to dust off the garden shovels and trowels, haul out the garbage cans, purge closets and oh so much more.

We love this time of year. Get rid of the old, turn over the soil, and get ready for new things to bloom! As we prepare, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite DIY spring cleaning tips and tricks to help make your list a little less daunting.

1. First and foremost, haul out all of your baskets and bins to help you get organized. Stephanie from A Grande Life has found 10 great tools for spring cleaning organization. Everything from labels to keep the bins organized, the bins themselves and storage that is perfect for cleaning out your children’s rooms. Look for storage baskets and bins that match your home décor, so they are both beautiful and functional.

2. Next, start looking around your house for areas where you can create your own cleaning solutions. This will save you both time and money, and reduce your overall carbon footprint. Paul Parish has a great recipe for DIY Dishwasher Soap that uses some unique ingredients to get your dishes clean!

3. You can also make homemade dryer sheets with just a few simple things, like cotton dish clothes, oil and vinegar! Totally genius, eco-friendly, reusable and thrifty!

4. When you are spring cleaning, there are always tough jobs like ceiling fans, outside windows and mattresses. You probably already know the pillow case trick for cleaning your ceiling fan blades, but did you know that you can easily refresh your mattresses with just a few ingredients? One Good Thing By Jillee has a great recipe for refreshing your mattress, and with just two ingredients!! It’s an easy way to make your bedroom feel fresh and clean.

5. Now that you have some great organizational tips and DIY homemade cleaning solutions, you likely are wondering where the heck you should start with your spring cleaning.
