The 5 Hottest Job Fields for Canadians Without a University Degree

2014 Express Employment Professionals Study Reveals Where the Jobs Are

Marketwired

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2014) - As federal and provincial officials gather in Toronto for "Skills Summit 2014," Express Employment Professionals, the largest franchised staffing company in North America, released findings that reveal the hottest fields for workers in Canada without university degrees.

The findings come from a 2014 survey of 22 Express franchises in Canada.

Respondents were asked to name the "five hottest fields hiring the most non-university graduates." Ninety-five per cent included industrial in their response, 84 per cent said sales and marketing, 79 per cent said office services, 47 per cent said technical, and 37 per cent said engineering/manufacturing.

The full results are below.

"When looking for a job, you can't just think about the jobs you want; you have to know the jobs that are available. The job search can be much more productive if you're looking in the right places," said Bob Funk, CEO of Express, and a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

"If I were giving advice to someone looking for work, especially a non-university graduate, I would tell them to go where the jobs are. This list is also valuable information for students looking to pursue a technical education because it's a good idea to acquire the skills that are most in demand."
