5 Late Radar Movers: Nutrisystem Losses 8 Percent,While Applied Materials Pops 1%

Shares of Nutrisystem Inc. dropped more than 8 percent in late trading.  The company announced disappointing fourth quarter results.  Earnings came in at a negative 4 cents, missing estimates by 2 cents.  Revenue also decreased 24 percent from the prior year.

Applied Materials Inc. shares gained nearly 1 percent after the closing bell.  The company announced plans to purchase up to $3 billion of its common stock over the next three years.  The company also increased its quarterly dividend from 8 cents per share to 9 cents per share.

VeriFone Systems Inc. shares edged .40 percent higher in extended trading.  The company reported fiscal first quarter adjusted earnings of 58 cents per share, compared to estimates of 52 cents per share.  Total revenue also increased 48 percent to $419.5 million, compared to a year earlier.

After closing 3.3 percent higher in regular trading, Big Lots Inc. shares fell 1 percent in late trading.  The company recently announced fourth quarter results.  Net income increased 4.2 percent to $114.7 million, compared to $110.1 million a year earlier.

Skullcandy Inc. shares fell nearly 8 percent after the closing bell.  In order to pursue other opportunities such as charitable and humanitarian activities, chief financial officer Mitch Edwards will be resigning as of April 1.
