We could all use more money every month, and finding ways to get it doesn’t have to be all that hard — you just have to get creative. Get started now and check out these ways to increase your income.

1. Negotiate your salary.

If you have a job, the obvious place to start is to ask for a raise. This can be intimidating sometimes, but remember it never hurts to ask. Ask your boss for a meeting and prepare yourself with a few points about what you have accomplished, the value you have added to the team, and why you think you deserve more money. Even if you don’t come out of the conversation with a raise, you will still plant the seed for a future increase.

2. Set up an online shop.

Do you make jewelry, paintings or crafts that your friends are always asking you for? Set up an Etsy.com shop to sell your wares online.

Because one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, you can take your spare clothing, memorabilia and other items you don’t use anymore and sell them on eBay. Also, set up an virtual closet with a website like Poshmark.com, and let people browse and purchase your clothing. If you are more old-fashioned, host a garage sale or bring your clothing into a brick and mortar consignment shop.

3. Earn money off your car.

Did you know you can get paid for putting advertisements on you car? Companies like Free Car Media pay drivers monthly to put an advertiser’s auto wrap on your vehicle. There have been a lot of reports of scams in this industry, so be sure to research the company before you engage in business with them.

You can also rent your parking spot in your driveway or garage. There are websites that list your spot and pay for a rental fee.

4. Pick up a second job.

Odd jobs like babysitting, house cleaning, lawn care and pet sitting are all great ways to make fast and easy money. Talk to your friends, family and neighbors for referrals and put up flyers in your area.

You should also look into part-time jobs, like bartender, cater waiter, nanny or temp to earn extra income on top of your 9 to 5.

5. Become a mystery shopper.

If you become a mystery shopper, you can shop to earn money instead of spending money. Stores hire mystery shoppers to go into select locations to scout the store, staff and experience. You can get paid $5 to $20 for visiting, taking specific actions in-store, sometimes buying a (reimbursable) item, and filling out a report.
